Kyojuro is undeniably one of the saddest characters in “Demon Slayer”. Even before Akaza arrived, he had already fought off numerous attacks and safeguarded civilians on the train, leaving him weary. However, despite his fatigue, he put forth every ounce of effort in a final battle to shield the young demon slayers he was responsible for.

I can’t help but adore this charming character who managed to win over the audience in just a short time on screen. Yet, it’s heart-wrenching that his father, who had mistreated him so cruelly, shed tears upon learning of Kyojuro’s demise – a moment that denied us the possibility of witnessing their reconciliation and mending the broken relationship they shared.

7. Tanjiro Kamado

Nobody Deserves To Lose Their Family In One Fell Swoop

At night, Tanjiro took refuge at a kind local’s residence to keep away from demons. Unbeknownst to him, upon returning, he would find the gruesome aftermath of his family, with his sister miraculously surviving as the sole living member.

Despite transforming into a demon, Tanjiro held onto hope that Nezuko hadn’t lost her mind. Regardless of the hardships he’d endured throughout his life, he refused to leave Nezuko behind and trudged on, burdened by sorrow.

6. Sabito

Sacrificed Himself To Save His Friend

In the Final Selection arc, Sabito proved himself to be an unwaveringly faithful friend by rescuing Giyu. His passing left Giyu grappling with profound guilt, and he began questioning his worthiness as a Hashira, feeling that Sabito’s courage would have made him more deserving of the position.

Although Tanjiro acknowledged that Giyu might be feeling guilty over his friend Sabito’s tragic fate, it was appropriate for him to emphasize that wallowing in guilt was not the solution. Instead, Giyu should channel his emotions into action, striving to protect others from experiencing a similar destiny. This message seemed to revive Giyu from his sorrow as he vowed to fight with all his might for Sabito’s honor.

5. Kanao Tsuyuri

This Blameless Child Was Shunned And Abused By Her Parents

It’s not right for any child to be raised by parents who don’t value them properly. Fortunately, Kanao was saved from further harm when Shinobu and Kanae stepped in.

In this instance of compassion, another sorrowful event occurred: Kanae perished at the hands of Doma, underscoring the harsh reality of the world in Demon Slayer. This heartbreaking incident spurred Kanao to grow stronger and join the Demon Slayer Corps, vowing to uphold their noble mission.

4. Genya Shinazugawa

Hungers For His Brother’s Approval

As an observer, I see that Genya has had to employ questionable tactics to gain power and confront mighty demons, yet this shouldn’t diminish his brother’s affection towards him. Rather, he is constantly striving for Sanemi’s acceptance, only to be met with rejection at each turn.

In the end, driven by his desire to gain his brother’s admiration, he gave up his own life to protect him. This selfless act brought a sense of humanity to both characters and triggered an emotional goodbye as Genya’s life was tragically cut short before its time.

3. Zenitsu Agatsuma

Losing His Father Figure Was Tough

It turned out that Zenitsu’s connection with his master was stronger than fans anticipated. Upon hearing about his master’s passing, this character was devastated to the core. The fact that his master’s death was due to a treacherous act only intensified his sorrow, driving him to seek retribution against Kaigaku for betraying humanity. He decided to confront and punish Kaigaku in order to avenge his master.

Despite his timid nature, Jigoro remained steadfast in his faith in Zenitsu, eventually recognizing the incredible depth of his abilities. This belief was a significant factor in Zenitsu’s decision to become a Demon Slayer. It was unfair how everything he had worked towards was taken away from him so cruelly.

The Ubuyashiki family was prepared to set a trap for Muzan, if doing so would result in the destruction of this wicked demon. They could have lived contentedly, but their lives were sacrificed in a futile yet determined attempt to vanquish Muzan completely.

The tale of Nezuko is a heart-rending one, as she suffered the loss of her entire family due to Muzan’s assault, and was subsequently transformed into a demon by this wicked antagonist. Initially, she seemed intent on attacking Tanjiro, but in time, she recovered her faculties and exhibited a nurturing disposition towards her elder sibling instead.

I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy, watching her struggle against the malevolent forces that threatened her peace. Yet, it’s heartening to see her exhibiting signs of consciousness as she stands with humanity. Despite the hardships and sorrow that have come her way, it brings joy to many to witness a glimmer of good fortune in her life – a fortunate twist that allows her, unlike other demons, to bask in the sunlight without being harmed.
