Currently, Demon Slayer is the most popular anime series by a significant margin. It’s become a global phenomenon, though its popularity experienced a dip before surging again with the release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza’s Return. While the Mugen Train movie was a huge success, this new film reached even greater heights, becoming the top-grossing movie in Japan.
While fans eagerly await the next two Demon Slayer movies, the franchise is facing a problem created by the massive success of its previous film. Stretching a single story arc over six years has ultimately hurt the series.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Is A Huge Success, But It Has Ruined the Final Arc of the Story
- Fans Have To Wait Over 6 Years For One Arc
- The Infinity Castle Arc Could Have Been Covered in 1 to 2 Seasons Instead
The movie *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* came out in July and was a huge hit with fans. Many people praised its stunning animation and direction, which contributed to its impressive performance in theaters. But this is just the first part of a planned trilogy, and the next two movies are expected to be even more popular.

Honestly, while these movies look and feel fantastic, I’m starting to worry they’re hurting the story, especially for longtime fans. The biggest problem is how slowly things are moving – they’ve been building up one storyline, the Infinity Castle arc, for over six years now. And that arc *is* the most exciting part! But waiting two years or more between each movie to only get through a small piece of it feels like a really bad approach. It’s losing momentum.
The Infinity Castle storyline could have easily been covered in one or two seasons. However, it’s being stretched out because the movies are so financially successful for those involved.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s Success Will Change the Anime Industry
More Series Will Want To Capitalize On This Success

The success of *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* isn’t just a win for the series itself – it’s likely to influence the entire anime industry. The film’s incredible box office performance is unlike anything seen before for an anime movie, and other franchises will probably try to replicate that success. This means fans can anticipate more popular storylines from existing series being adapted into films. While some long-time anime fans who are used to weekly episodes might not be thrilled, this appears to be the new trend for anime.

I’m so excited – *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1* is finally in cinemas! If you can’t wait for the full movie release, you can actually read ahead with the manga on Manga Plus. And for those who prefer anime, there are already four full seasons available to stream on Crunchyroll. But the story doesn’t end there! The rest of *Demon Slayer* will be released as movies, so we’ll all have to head to the theaters when they come out in our countries to continue the adventure.
