Summary
- Sony accidentally revealed Demon Slayer movie debut date, possibly September 12, 2025.
- Expect higher budget, better fights, and good box office for the Infinity Castle trilogy.
- Movie likely covers only the Infinity Arc, leading to a final and loving rescue by Tanjiro.
The highly anticipated anime film “Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle” is currently generating a lot of excitement, and it seems that Sony Pictures may have unintentionally revealed its premiere date. Officially, the follow-up to the “Demon Slayer” anime is slated for release sometime in 2025.
Both Sony and Toho have lofty hopes for the upcoming film, anticipating it might outdo “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” to become the highest-earning Japanese film ever. Their confidence in the film’s potential isn’t unfounded, but achieving this feat won’t be an easy feat for any movie.
It appears that Sony may have inadvertently disclosed the premiere date of an unnamed event film through its French website. A webpage for the “Untitled Crunchyroll/Sony/Aniplex Event Film” was posted, which included a September 12, 2025 release date. The film is listed as having both wide and IMAX releases, suggesting it’s a significant project. Sony has since taken down the page, but the original information can still be found if you search for it on Google.
While this information might point to something different, it’s highly probable that it refers to “Demon Slayer”, given Aniplex doesn’t have another release as prominent. This assumption is further strengthened by the fact that German cinema chain CineStar is advertising the film, and their synopsis leaves no ambiguity – this is indeed the Infinity Castle movie.
CineStar has announced that the film is expected to be released on September 29, 2025. However, keep in mind that this may not necessarily be the final release date as it could vary by country and territory. This means that the movie might debut earlier in some regions (and potentially later in others).
What To Expect From Infinity Castle?
Higher Budget, Better Fights, Good Box Office
The film is actually the opening chapter of a three-part saga, but it doesn’t wrap up the entire story – instead, it kicks off the initial phase of the grand finale. This segment consists of 44 parts, while the concluding part (which will be the last) has 22. In essence, the trilogy seems to focus on the Infinity Arc exclusively, with each movie adapting approximately 14-15 segments. For reference, the Mugen Train arc encompasses just 13 sections, so it’s feasible to create a quality film based on around 15 sections.
From an observer’s perspective, it seems that the cinematic adaptation of the Infinity Castle saga is anticipated to boast a larger budget than typical TV series, promising an even more polished presentation of Demon Slayer, with potential enhancements in both visual quality and fight scenes. The climactic chapter of the story is expected to unfold, revealing the heartwarming resolution where Tanjirou Kamado endeavors to save his beloved sister for good!
While it’s true that given the popularity of the series and past cinematic events, it is feasible for the movies to do exceptionally well at the box office, it’s crucial to remain cautious about them breaking the record for the highest-grossing films. It’s a challenging feat to accomplish, and while we can anticipate excellent performances in their respective niches, let’s not underestimate the unpredictability of box office success. After all, even Mugen Train surpassed expectations, achieving unprecedented levels of success that were beyond anyone’s predictions.
I came across the captivating anime series, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,” which is now streaming with both subtitles and dubbing on Crunchyroll. Notably, it’s also available on Netflix in certain regions and territories.
