Every battle promises to test the limits of our demon slayers, revealing their true potential. Given the high stakes, each move and every fight will carry unprecedented significance.
The trailer for Infinity Castle gives a fantastic feel for the movie, yet it leaves unclear which main characters will clash in the story. Although we see Tanjiro, Shinobu, and Zenitsu facing off against Akaza, Doma, and Kaigaku respectively, the opponent of Kokushibo remains undisclosed. However, as per the manga, Muichiro is expected to encounter him first. But does the Flame Pillar possess the strength to battle Upper Moon One?
Muichiro Tokito: The Mist Hashira
The Most Talented Swordsmen of the Taisho Era
- Manga Debut: Chapter 44
- Anime Debut: Episode 21
Muichiro Tokito has been something of a mystery, coming off as carefree and distant, which made it tough for others to connect with him. It often seemed like he was grappling with his own identity and questioning his role. However, after recovering memories of his past and understanding the impact of losing his twin brother, Muichiro evolved into a formidable warrior in the fight against demons.
In the same vein as our teacher advised, once you reclaim your self-assurance, dive in wholeheartedly with unwavering determination and employ all your might. If you are well aware of your identity, then not even a demon will outrun you when you wield a sword that knows no doubt or indecision. (Muichiro Tokito)
In an unusual turn of events, Muichiro quickly rose through the ranks to become a Hashira, the elite group of demon slayers, within merely two months after learning to wield a sword. Ordinarily, it takes years of arduous training for a slayer to be deemed worthy of this prestigious position. However, Tokito managed to achieve this feat in just a few short weeks, underscoring his exceptional talent.
Over time, Muichiro honed his skills to become one of the finest demon slayers during the Taisho era. Notably, he’s the sole swordsman of his generation who has defeated an Upper Moon on his own. Likewise, Tokito was the first Hashira to awaken a Demon Slayer Mark. Though Mist Hashira may seem small and delicate, his skills are unmatched by many. Few swordsmen throughout history can even aspire to reach his level of combat mastery.
Kokushibo: The Upper Rank One of the Twelve Kizuki
The Upper Moon One
- Manga Debut: Chapter 99
- Anime Debut: Episode 45
Among demons, Kokushibo stands as one of the eldest. In the Sengoku period, he allied with Muzan and has persisted for countless centuries. Previously, he was a skilled swordsman, but his dread of mortality led him to accept Kibutsuji’s proposition.
Gradually, Kokushibo established himself as the Demon King’s loyal confidant, playing an essential part in maintaining the tyranny of his rule across generations.
Infinity Castle Movie is All Set to Reveal Who is Stronger
Muichiro Tokito Faces His Greatest Challenge
Earlier, we discussed how Muichiro Tokito, also known as Mist Hashira, will face off against Upper Rank One demon, Kokushibo. Despite having previously defeated Gyokko on his own, battling Kokushibo is a much tougher task. It’s fortunate for Tokito that he has already shown the Demon Slayer Mark, because engaging an Upper Moon without it can be extremely risky.
However, there are limits to how far the mark can advance. Kokushibo has spent centuries perfecting his swordsmanship and possesses knowledge of techniques that not even a skilled swordsman like Muichiro could conceive. Moreover, his speed is incredibly swift, making it difficult for even the Hashira to track him.
From where I stand, what chills me to the bone about Upper Moon One is that he possesses breathing techniques similar to his enemies. Yet, it’s not just his mimicry of their styles that makes him seem untouchable; he can also tap into the Transparent World due to the Demon Slayer Mark he manifested during his time as a swordsman. To add to the fear factor, Kokushibo, like his comrades, is skilled in using Blood Demon Art, making it appear as though there’s no hope of defeating him.
Muichiro Tokito, known for his exceptional skill as a demon slayer, could potentially be one of the greatest, but battling Kokushibo on his own puts him at serious risk. To even inflict harm on the Upper Moon, he’ll need to innovate his swordplay techniques. However, it’s worth noting that he has previously impressed fans by defeating Gyokko single-handedly.
Upcoming fights for the Mist Pillar Hashira might be his toughest battle yet, as among today’s demon slayers, only he possesses the skill to achieve the seemingly unattainable. Whether he can rise to the occasion or if the power disparity will prove insurmountable for him remains uncertain.
I’m absolutely thrilled to share that the initial part of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy will make its grand debut in the USA on September 12, 2025! Can’t wait!
