This post contains spoilers for Demon Slayer.
The movie *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* is proving incredibly popular with fans, quickly becoming a box office success. It’s shattered previous records across various regions and has now earned over $555 million, surpassing the sales of the *Mugen Train* movie.
The *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* movie has been very popular with viewers. However, some are wondering if splitting the story into three movies was the right choice.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc Will Take A Long Time To End
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Trilogy Will Likely End By 2028

- Demon Slayer Infinity Castle trilogy will take a long time to end
- The trilogy will still be a success
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Akaza Returns is the first of three movies. It centers around Akaza, a powerful demon known as Upper Moon Two, who previously killed the beloved Rengoku Kyojuro in the Mugen Train movie. After his defeat, Akaza briefly reappeared a few times, but those moments weren’t particularly significant.
However, in the first *Infinity Castle* film, he really took center stage. He battled Tanjiro and Giyu, and his unique Blood Demon Art allowed him to control most of the fight.
In the final moments, Tanjiro severed Akaza’s neck, giving the Demon Slayers a significant advantage. Despite this, Akaza resisted death, haunted by his past. After a long look back at his life, he finally accepted his fate. Meanwhile, separate battles were also taking place against Doma and Kaigaku.
The movie was generally very exciting, and the use of flashbacks was a creative addition. While some viewers found the flashbacks disruptive, they actually provided important background information and heightened the tension of the plot.

With the latest movie now out, fans can expect to wait at least a year or two for the next installment. While there’s talk of ufotable aiming to finish the trilogy by 2028, this means a tight schedule and increased pressure on the production team to meet the deadline.
Many fans think ufotable should have created a standard, ongoing TV series for Demon Slayer instead of spacing out the releases until 2028. It’s worth noting that the 2028 date is just speculation, and the final movie trilogy might actually be released even further in the future.
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie 2 Release Date
Next Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie Will Be Released In 2027

Ufotable has committed to a three-part movie series, so the continuation of the Demon Slayer saga is guaranteed. Fans can anticipate ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2,’ though a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet. However, if the rumors about the trilogy concluding in 2028 are true, we can likely expect the second movie to arrive in late 2026.
ufotable staff revealed they started planning the first Demon Slayer movie – Infinity Castle – before the Swordsmith Village arc even aired. Development on that film took about three and a half years. If they only began work on the second movie after finishing the first, a release would be quite a ways off. However, if work on the second movie started a couple of years ago, a release in late 2026 or early 2027 seems plausible.

The decision to adapt the story’s ending into a three-part movie series was made nearly five years ago, meaning the studio has been planning this from the start. We can expect Aniplex and ufotable to share more information about the second *Infinity Castle* movie soon, and they might announce details at Jump Festa 2026.
