Throughout the story of Demon Slayer, Nezuko Kamado grew incredibly powerful, becoming one of the strongest characters in the anime. While her brother Tanjiro was determined to keep her safe, Nezuko frequently proved capable of defending herself, even against the formidable Twelve Demon Moons. She didn’t break the show’s fighting style, but she definitely exceeded all expectations for what her character could achieve.
Watching Nezuko in Demon Slayer, I was often struck by just how powerful she was – almost unbelievably so. There were moments in battle where she felt completely overpowered, but it wasn’t just raw strength. She seemed to bend the typical rules for demons, doing things no other demon could even dream of. Every time she really shined in the series, it was clear she was something special, truly breaking the mold.
Nezuko Resisted Her Demonic Instinct to Kill Tanjiro

While Nezuko Kamado has done many incredible things, perhaps her most impressive feat is controlling her demonic instincts. In the very first episode of Demon Slayer, titled “Cruelty,” Nezuko initially lost control after becoming a demon and even attacked her brother. However, she quickly regained herself, demonstrating an incredible inner strength and willpower – a strength that isn’t physical, but comes from her unwavering humanity.
I noticed something interesting about Tanjiro and Nezuko – it felt like they had a kind of built-in protection. Tanjiro narrowly avoided death, and that moment was key to Giyu Tomioka deciding not to kill Nezuko, even though she was a demon. Usually, the story tells us demons immediately become consumed by their new instincts, but Nezuko was different. She showed incredible strength of will and maintained her good nature, which made it clear she deserved Tanjiro’s unwavering protection throughout every fight.
Nezuko Kicked Off the Temple Demon’s Head
She Was Pretty Strong For an Amateur Fighter

She isn’t as overwhelmingly powerful as characters like Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen or Saitama from One-Punch Man, but ‘overpowered’ is a matter of perspective. Nezuko seems remarkably strong and capable, especially considering she hadn’t received any formal training and was still adjusting to her demon form as of Episode 2.
Nezuko proved her strength by easily defeating the temple demon with a single, powerful kick. This moment highlighted kicking as her primary fighting method, showcasing both its force and accuracy. After that hit, the demon was no longer a danger. For a brief period, Nezuko even became the protector, rather than the one being protected, making her surprisingly strong early in the series.
Nezuko Fought Susamaru With Her Powerful Kicks
Susamaru Was Almost Beaten at Her Own Game

Fans of Demon Slayer weren’t shocked to see Tanjiro hold his own against Susamaru and Yahaba. His training and special sword explained his strong performance. What really stood out was Nezuko, who continued to effectively use kicks in battle. She didn’t require any training to defeat the temple demon, and she easily handled demons that Tanjiro initially thought were powerful members of the Twelve Demon Moons.
Nezuko surprisingly matched Susamaru’s skills in their fight. Susamaru attacked with her uniquely dangerous, colorful spinning tops, but Nezuko quickly adapted, showcasing her ability to handle any opponent’s techniques – especially when using kicks. Considering the power levels in Demon Slayer at that point, Nezuko holding her own against the strong Susamaru felt almost unfair, but in a positive way.
Nezuko Fought Hantengu and Survived
Without Training, Nezuko Outlasted an Upper Moon

By the time Demon Slayer reached the Swordsmith Village arc, Nezuko Kamado wasn’t strong enough to face the villains on her own. The Upper Moon 4 was simply too powerful for her to defeat alone, but even surviving the fight was an impressive accomplishment. Considering that Hantengu could create multiple copies of himself, it made sense that Nezuko needed help from her teammates to get through that difficult night.
Nezuko felt incredibly powerful during the fight, even surprising herself. She was often able to take on Hantengu by herself and inflict significant damage. She withstood his attacks and fought back with her usual fire-based techniques, using her natural superhuman strength. Despite having no formal training, Nezuko consistently relies on her instincts, and that’s proven enough. The fact that she survived a battle against an Upper Moon demon as a self-taught fighter truly sets her apart.
Nezuko Fought Daki in Her Adult Form

Just when viewers thought they understood Nezuko’s abilities, she revealed a powerful new skill. Driven by the intense pressure from Daki and her desire to protect her friends, Nezuko unleashed her fierce, fully-grown demon form.
Nezuko became much larger and more intimidating, but her incredible strength was the most striking change. In this new form, she easily overpowered Daki, leaving Daki with almost no chance to fight back. However, Tanjiro quickly stepped in, determined to control his sister’s fierce instincts. The story of Demon Slayer focuses on a hero’s character as much as their power, and Tanjiro recognized just how dangerous Nezuko had become. The Kamado family always strives to do what’s right, even if it means a harder fight, and this added a meaningful layer to Nezuko’s newfound strength.
Nezuko Didn’t Die When the Morning Sun Arrived
Nezuko’s Evolution Caught Muzan’s Attention at Once
One of Nezuko Kamado’s most impressive feats in Demon Slayer was a key moment that shaped the story going forward in Season 4. Tanjiro was prepared to let Hantengu destroy Nezuko to complete his mission, prioritizing his duty. Surprisingly, Nezuko not only survived being exposed to the sunlight, but this also stunned everyone present. However, her survival made her a target, as Muzan Kibutsuji, the series’ villain, desperately wanted her unique ability to withstand sunlight.
The ending of Demon Slayer left viewers with a lot of complicated emotions, building suspense for Season 4. While there was a happy moment, it also hinted that the conflict wasn’t truly resolved. Nezuko’s actions were especially significant, as she achieved something no demon had done in centuries, and the exact way she did it remained a mystery. Now, as the story continues, Muzan views Nezuko as a valuable prize – a reward for overcoming the demon slayers and achieving complete immortality.
