Demon Slayer: Tanjiro’s Most Overpowered Moments In The Anime

Demon Slayer is a hugely popular anime that has captivated audiences with its exciting blend of action and heartbreaking moments. Created by Koyoharu Gotouge, Demon Slayer centers around Tanjiro Kamado, whose life is shattered when a demon kills his family and transforms his sister. The series follows Tanjiro’s path as he trains to become a Demon Slayer, determined to find a way to restore his sister’s humanity, track down the demon who destroyed his family, and get his revenge.

With the series ending, the final story arc is brought to life in the Infinity Castle Saga, a set of animated movies showcasing Tanjiro’s biggest challenge so far. But Tanjiro has consistently proven he’s up to the task. Below are some of Tanjiro’s most impressive and powerful moments in the Demon Slayer anime.

Mixing Breathing Style Techniques

Tanjiro Has Begun Mixing Breathing Technique From Other Schools With His Own

Since his initial battle with Muzan, Tanjiro has improved at an incredible rate. His unwavering commitment to training – driven by his desire to save his sister and honor his family – has given him the strength and resolve to achieve remarkable things, especially given how new he is to fighting.

While chasing the powerful demon Hantengu, Tanjiro temporarily uses techniques from Thunder Breathing, hoping to gain the speed needed to catch him. This allows him to perform a simple Thunderclap and Flash dash, followed by a Sun Breathing Slash. Currently, Tanjiro is the first and only Demon Slayer to successfully combine different breathing styles – a remarkable feat.

Awakening His Demon Slayer Mark

Tanjiro Invokes The Legendary Demon Mark And Paves The Way For His Allies

The Demon Slayer Mark is a symbol that hasn’t appeared among Demon Slayers for many decades. It was once a powerful ability that significantly increased the strength of the Demon Slayer Corps, but it was lost to time after numerous battles.

The mark, unseen since the Sengoku period, has been awakened by Tanjiro during his battle with the powerful demon, Gyutaro. Even as he reaches his breaking point, he pushes past his limits and truly earns the mark on his forehead – a development that will activate similar marks on other Hashira and dramatically change the course of the war against the demons.

Sniffing Out Muzan

Tanjiro Finds The Demon King On His First Outing

Tanjiro quickly began his work as a demon slayer after officially joining the ranks. He demonstrated impressive skills and great promise, and everyone believed he would be a significant force in defending humans from demons. However, no one anticipated that he would encounter Muzan, the Demon King, so early in his career, disguised among ordinary people. Tanjiro immediately recognized the scent of the demon who killed his family, and he confronted the creature, taking Muzan completely by surprise. Sadly, Tanjiro lacked the experience to handle such a powerful demon, and Muzan managed to escape.

Catching Tomioka Off Guard

Tanjiro Almost Gets The Best Of A Seasoned Demon Slayer Hashira

The debut episode of Demon Slayer was a powerfully emotional experience. Tanjiro’s harsh introduction to the dangerous world of demons and their conflict with humans culminated in a devastating loss. As he desperately tried to help his sister, who had been transformed into a demon, he encountered Tomioka, one of the most powerful Demon Slayer Hashira. Tanjiro immediately recognized the vast difference in their speed, strength, and abilities, prompting him to rely on his wits. In a brilliant act of deception, Tanjiro boldly attacked, putting himself at risk to create an opportunity that would forever alter his destiny.

Tanjiro Completing His Training Faster Than Everyone Else

Tanjiro Surpasses All Of His Peers And Finishes His Training

Although the Hashira Training arc wasn’t the most action-filled season of Demon Slayer, it really showed how much Tanjiro has grown since he first started his journey. Following several attacks on the Demon Slayer Corps and the loss of two Hashira, all the demon slayers participated in intense training led by each of the Hashira. Most of the warriors found the training incredibly difficult and couldn’t meet the high standards. However, Tanjiro consistently rose to every challenge, impressing his fellow slayers and motivating them along the way.

Bringing Shinazugawa To His Knees With A Headbutt

Tanjiro Shows No Fear When Stepping Up To A Hashira

The initial meeting with the Hashira – the highest-ranking members of the Demon Slayer Corps – was an intimidating experience. It showed just how unique and unusual those who become leaders in the fight against demons are. A key issue discussed was whether Nezuko should be permitted to live.

Shinazugawa, who is the Wind Breathing Hashira, decided to give Nezuko a very harsh test, which immediately angered Tanjiro, her protective older brother. The Hashira are incredibly skilled fighters, regularly battling powerful demons, but Tanjiro managed to overwhelm Shinazugawa, forcing him to his knees, with just one headbutt.

Using Sun Breathing On Daki

Tanjiro Flows Into A Calm Rage And Taps Into A Legendary Breathing Style

The Entertainment District arc in Demon Slayer season two was fantastic throughout. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and the Sound Hashira, Tengen, investigated the district to locate Tengen’s missing wives and uncover the demon lurking within the population.

A fierce and devastating conflict broke out, completely destroying the entire prefecture. Early in the season, Tanjiro confronted Daki. Daki’s cruel nature and lack of concern for human life drove Tanjiro to unleash the Hino Kami Kagura style at a power level he’d never reached before, utterly defeating an upper-rank demon.

Slicing off Gyutaro’s Head

Tanjiro Takes The Head Of An Upper-Rank Demon

The conclusion of the Entertainment District arc in season 2 of Demon Slayer really surprised viewers. After a lot of building tension, the fate of the characters was left hanging as they struggled against Gyutaro and his sister Daki. In a desperate attempt to win, Tengen and Tanjiro teamed up to defeat Gyutaro, fighting with everything they had. They managed to overpower the demon in an exciting and explosive battle, with Tanjiro ultimately delivering the final blow and cutting off his head. By tapping into the power of the Demon Mark, Tanjiro pushed past his boundaries and defeated his first Upper Rank demon.
