Demon Slayer: The Strongest Characters Tanjiro Can Defeat, Ranked

Throughout Demon Slayer, Tanjiro Kamado consistently overcame incredibly strong enemies. Having already defeated opponents like Enmu, Gyutaro, and Kyogai, fans are wondering who else he could beat. While Tanjiro struggled against the most powerful demons during arcs like the Mugen Train and Swordsmith Village, he became much stronger by the end of the series.

Tanjiro began his journey in Demon Slayer skilled in Water Breathing, but he soon realized it wasn’t enough to defeat the most powerful demons. He then learned Hinokami Kagura, which gave him a better chance against Muzan’s strongest minions. When Tanjiro unlocked his demon slayer mark and gained the ability to use Transparent World, he became incredibly strong. While not as powerful as the top Hashira or Upper Moons, he’s now capable of winning against many formidable Demon Slayer characters in a fair fight.

Inosuke Hashibira is Tough But Never Learned Transparent World

Beast Breathing Won’t Trump Hinokami Kagura, Either

Inosuke Hashibira is likely the most challenging opponent Tanjiro could realistically beat in a fight. While he doesn’t have the same range of skills or power as Tanjiro or the Hashira, Inosuke’s incredibly sharp senses and instincts, honed from growing up in the wilderness, give him a unique and unpredictable fighting style that can catch both demons and other slayers off guard.

Inosuke’s unpredictable Beast Breathing can often catch powerful demons off guard, but Tanjiro is already familiar with his style. If they ever had a serious fight, Tanjiro would have the advantage throughout. Because Tanjiro knows what to expect from Inosuke, a battle between them would come down to skill and strength, where Tanjiro is stronger. He would likely be able to defeat Inosuke using only his Water Breathing and Hinokami Kagura techniques.

Daki Would Lose to Tanjiro Just the Way Her Brother Did

Tanjiro No Longer Fears Daki’s Obi Belt

Wow, the Entertainment District Arc was incredible! Seeing Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Rengoku team up against Gyutaro and Daki was just… intense. It really pushed Tanjiro to unlock a whole new level with the Hinokami Kagura, and he even activated his demon slayer mark! It was a super close call, but he managed to defeat Gyutaro, and honestly, after seeing him do that, I think taking down Daki might actually be a little bit easier for him. It was amazing to watch his growth!

Daki is a powerful opponent, even against the strongest demon slayers, but Tanjiro, as he is at the end of the series, is strong enough to defeat her in any location. While Tanjiro needed assistance during a similar fight in Season 2, he’s now equipped with a demon slayer mark and the ability to see through everything with Transparent World, giving him the edge he needs. These skills will allow him to counter Daki’s attacks using her obi belts, and he’ll be able to cut off her head. Although both Daki and Gyutaro need to be defeated for her to truly die, even temporarily beheading Daki would be enough for Tanjiro to win the fight.

Gyokko Will Lose to Hinokami Kagura If Tanjiro Doesn’t Drown First

Using a Demon Slayer Mark Will Help Tanjiro Further

Gyokko, like Daki, was a powerful enemy who almost defeated Tanjiro. However, he would have trouble overcoming Tanjiro’s abilities, especially when Tanjiro activates Transparent World and his Demon Slayer Mark. Although Tanjiro couldn’t defeat Gyokko during the Swordsmith Village Arc, Muichiro was able to do it on his own using his Demon Slayer Mark, suggesting Tanjiro will eventually be able to as well.

Muichiro is naturally a more skilled and experienced fighter than Tanjiro, but Tanjiro has quickly improved to match him. If Muichiro can defeat the Upper Moon 5, Tanjiro is likely to do the same in his final battle. However, Tanjiro needs to be careful to avoid Gyokko’s water attacks, as drowning is a serious danger. As long as Tanjiro avoids the water and the flying needles, he’s almost certain to win.

Muichiro Tokito Trained Tanjiro But is Now Weaker Than Him

Being a Prodigy Won’t Help Muichiro Overcome Transparent World

Based on their fight, Muichiro Tokito showed he was the better fighter compared to Gyokko. Though it was a difficult battle for the young Mist Hashira – he was injured and nearly died several times – Muichiro ultimately won. This proves he’s a remarkably skilled fighter, mastering both Mist Breathing and the power of his demon slayer mark.

Okay, so Sanemi Shinazugawa always seemed to look down on anyone who wasn’t a Hashira, and he really respected Muichiro, but honestly barely gave Tanjiro the time of day. But things have completely changed! Tanjiro, with his Demon Slayer Mark and especially mastering Transparent World, has become stronger than both of them. Sanemi seriously needs to re-evaluate things because Tanjiro isn’t just keeping up with Muichiro anymore, he’s blown past him! It took Hinokami Kagura and the mark for Tanjiro to even reach Muichiro’s level, but now? He’s surpassed him and would absolutely win in a fight. Honestly, Tanjiro is now stronger than Sanemi too – it’s pretty incredible!

Tengen Uzui is Flashy But Lacks the Power to Beat Tanjiro’s Best Moves

Without His Three Wives Aiding Him, Tengen is Doomed

Image via studio UFOtable.

During the Entertainment District battle, Tengen Uzui, the flamboyant Hashira, was a much stronger fighter than Tanjiro’s friends. He was more experienced, skilled with his two swords, and used powerful techniques and explosives. While Tengen had a better chance against Gyutaro than Tanjiro did at first, Tanjiro has since developed even more abilities.

Even combining his Water Breathing and Sun Breath techniques, Tanjiro couldn’t quite keep up with Tengen. However, his Demon Slayer mark and ability to perceive everything around him gave him an edge. While a fully recovered Tengen would put up a strong fight, Tanjiro would likely win a one-on-one battle, and Tengen would happily acknowledge Tanjiro’s strength and skill. If Tengen received help from his three wives, he might have a chance, but in a direct fight, Tanjiro would be victorious.

Kyojuro Rengoku Will Narrowly Lose to Endgame Tanjiro

Kyojuro’s Heart is Ablaze, But So is Tanjiro’s

Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, truly stood out during the Mugen Train Arc. He wasn’t just incredibly passionate and determined – his Flame Breathing was powerfully impressive. Even though he ultimately lost to Akaza, he fought remarkably well and almost won as the sun began to rise. Many believe he was the second-strongest Hashira, after Gyomei Himejima.

Kyojuro Rengoku is likely the strongest Demon Slayer Tanjiro has a reasonable chance of beating. Even with Tanjiro using his Hinokami Kagura, his demon slayer mark, and his Transparent World ability, it would be a very close fight. If Tanjiro is determined and fights with all his strength, he can compete with and ultimately narrowly defeat the Hashira he respects so much.
