Destiny 2: All Barrow-Dyad Catalysts Guide

In Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy, the Barrow-Dyad Strand SMG has rapidly become an essential Exotic weapon. It excels at obliterating groups of enemies and dishing out significant damage to bosses with continuous fire, particularly when combined with the right Catalyst. Here are four catalysts for the Barrow-Dyad that players should be mindful of, and they’ll want to learn how to unlock and complete each one.

In Destiny 2, acquiring every Barrow-Dyad catalyst is crucial as it allows you to improve and optimize your weapon, making it a formidable contender in battles. Here, we provide guidance on locating each catalyst, as well as the recommended Barrow-Dyad God Roll.

To make your weapon stand out in Destiny 2, you’ll need to get all the Barrow-Dyad catalysts. These help enhance and upgrade your gun, and we’ve got a guide on where to find each one, along with the recommended Barrow-Dyad God Roll.

The Barrow-Dyad Catalysts can be obtained in any order.

How to Get Catalyst #1 – High-Impact Reserves

A Needle’s Path Quest

In Destiny 2, the first catalyst players could access was called High-Impact Reserves. To obtain the quest for this catalyst, you need to advance to Rank 12 on the Path of Resolve at Eris Morn’s Shaping Slab. Upon reaching Rank 12 and obtaining upgrades from this rank, you should then engage in an Expert mode of the Court of Blades while carrying Barrow-Dyad as your weapon, supplemented with a Scout Rifle, Sniper Rifle, or Linear Fusion Rifle in either your Energy or Power slot.

Finishing an Advanced Blades Court, equipped with Barrow-Dyad and long-range weapons, grants players access to the High-Impact Reserves catalyst. Normally, players would earn this catalyst upon their first Advanced Blades Court run, but doing so with the suggested weapons skips that step. The Advanced mode of Blades Court isn’t challenging because there are no restricted respawns; instead, players can simply endure the 15-minute timer to conclude the final encounter and accomplish the mission.

How to Get Catalyst #2 – Hatchling

A Hammer’s Path Quest

To get the Hatchling catalyst for Barrow-Dyad, gamers should first finish Step 11 of Episode: Heresy Act 2’s main storyline mission. The following stage may prove challenging because it depends solely on random chance to activate and requires players to locate two particular hidden items within The Nether. These secrets can be discovered in any of the modes: Explore, Advanced, or Expert.

Adventure to the Court of Spirits in the Shadow Realm known as The Nether. In the main chamber on your right, you’ll find a malevolent entity named The Ravenous. Your objective is to lead this hostile creature across the room where a swarm of wriggling organisms (worms) reside on the floor. Upon consuming these worms, The Ravenous transforms into an Acolyte. Continue guiding it through the Court of Spirits towards the rear-right side, allowing it to eat more worms and evolve into a Hive Knight. Once transformed, defeat The Ravenous to uncover a hidden secret within the Dreadnaught.

Progressing as an Ascendant: Follow the Path of Resolve at the Carving Stone and venture into The Nether’s Trenchway. At the farthest platform in this area, you’ll come across a Hive structure that warrants examination. Across from this structure on the ritual ground, there are additional structures to engage. Once all these structures have been activated, a Mini-Boss of corrupted Ogre origin will materialize within the Dreadnaught, which players can defeat for another hidden secret in the fortress.

Once you’ve finished the three steps previously mentioned, you should now possess 3 Coalescence of Sorrow. Now it’s time for you to return to The Nether and find your way to the Trenchway region. In the left corner of the Trenchway (close to the path leading to the Hall of Souls), there are hidden platforms that can be detected with your Ghost ability. Make your way through these platforms to locate a portal. Within this portal, you’ll discover a chest holding the Hatchling catalyst quest.

With the acquisition of the A Hammer’s Path quest, players must now accomplish an Expert mode of The Nether mission, armed with Barrow-Dyad and either a Shotgun, Glaive, or Sword as both their Energy and Power weapons. Given that revives are restricted in this task, it could be somewhat tougher. If you’re not part of a Fireteam, consider using an LFG Discord or the official LFG app to find fellow players for assistance.

How to Get Catalyst #3 – One for All

A Hundredfold Path Quest

In Act 3 of Episode: Heresy, players have the option to start the Sunless Cell strike from the Last City under Destinations. By successfully completing The Sunless Cell while carrying the Barrow-Dyad, you’ll receive A Hundredfold Path, the initial quest for the One for All perk’s catalyst. To bypass repeating the Sunless Cell strike later on, finish your inaugural run of the strike with the Barrow-Dyad, along with any one of Auto Rifles, Submachine Guns, or Machine Guns in the Energy and Power weapon slots.

To successfully activate the One for All catalyst, gamers need to locate all ten Tithing Wormspawn scattered throughout the Dreadnaught during The Nether activity. These worms are found along the Path of Ambition. In each area, there are typically two Tithing Wormspawn. Players can easily spot them by exploring and keeping an eye on their minimap for discoverables. Once all ten have been gathered, the catalyst will be fully completed.

How to Get Catalyst #4 – Target Lock

A Silken Path Quest

To obtain the Target Lock catalyst for Barrow-Dyad, players should advance sufficiently in Episode: Heresy Act 3, enabling them to gather Mission Dossiers from the Shaping Slab. To accumulate the necessary 3 Coalescence of the Knife items, they can do so through various methods, such as:

  • Complete Mission Dossier: Blade Logic

To get the Skyburner’s Chest, journey into The Nether, specifically the Hull Breach. Look for Toland, the scannable orb on your right at the front of this area. His presence will summon the Skyburners’ Grudge enemy that you need to defeat. After defeating it, collect the Legion Code.

Then, go back to where Toland was and interact with the locked Cabal wall in a nearby cave to reveal a chest. This chest contains the Coalescence of the Knife.

As a gamer, here’s my take on it:

“Diving into The Nether, I navigate towards The Founts area. Over there, you’ll spot an unusual Hive device embedded in the floor. To find the hidden Rune Chests, look to the wall to its left. There, you’ll see some peculiar Hive symbols. Your task is to match these symbols and shoot the ones on the wall that correspond, exactly in the sequence they appear.

Alternatively, there’s another secret in The Founts. Keep your eyes peeled for a solitary Hive Symbol in the same area. Once you spot it, take aim and fire. This will reveal a Taken orb. You can shoot this orb too. Performing either of these secrets will reward you with a chest containing the Coalescence of the Knife.

Once you’ve collected all three Items of Coalescence for the Knife, make your way back to The Nether and find yourself in the Hull Breach. In this area, locate the dark room towards the back on the left side where you can interact with a Hive terminal to activate a portal. Entering this portal will lead you to a chest that contains the quest A Silken Path.

After obtaining Silken Path, gamers need to go back to the Shaping Slab and initiate the “Path of Resolve”. Subsequently, they should search for 10 Ravenous Wormspawn throughout The Nether in the Dreadnaught. Two Wormspawn can be found in each of the five distinct areas. Lastly, players must accomplish the Exotic Mission “Derealize”, located in The Last City under Destinations, while using Barrow-Dyad as their equipment.

Up there, you’ll find the optimal Barrow-Dyad design for PvE combat, which avid players should consider crafting at The Enclave in Savathun’s Throne World.
