In Episode Heresy of Destiny 2, a fresh narrative unfolds along with numerous improvements and enhancements. Among these updates, three brand-new subclass Aspects have been incorporated, one for each class: Titans receive Storm’s Keep, Warlocks gain Ionic Sentry, and Hunters get On the Prowl.
Although these Aspects may not appear striking initially, they open up fresh gameplay styles and opportunities for Guardians to significantly alter their approach, thus maintaining the thrill of their power role. Similar to numerous Guardian-related artifacts, these Aspects can be obtained by conversing with Ikora in the Tower.
We’ll examine a suitable build for every character class, which harmonizes best with the newly introduced Aspects. Additionally, we’ll discuss potential backup options using exotic armor sets.
If you aren’t currently sporting any Exotic armor, you can instead approach Master Rahool in the Tower and exchange an Exotic Engram for the specific piece of Exotic armor you desire. Keep in mind that this usually requires spending a rank reset and an Exotic Cipher.

3. Hunters
Now You See Me…

This fresh Void Aspect, On The Prowl, strongly emphasizes the elusive assassin-like role that Void Hunters have longed to embody. It places a premium on stealth during hectic firefights. With this setup, you’ll have the agility to vanish and reappear unnoticed, providing your team with valuable time to focus on taking down your target. Once done, you can then move on to find your next quarry.
As I’m on the hunt with my “On the Prowl” gear equipped, any foe lurking close by gets marked as our top priority. Should we manage to take down this designated target, a disorienting fog (akin to a smoke bomb) is triggered, granting us and our allies an invisibility cloak when we pass through it!
Additionally, eliminating the target boosts your and surrounding teammates’ ability energy, offers a temporary improvement in reload speed and stability as well.

To set On The Prowl in motion, we’ll use Stylish Executioner as our method. This ability makes you invisible whenever you eliminate an opponent who is under the effects of a Void debuff such as Weaken, Suppress, or Volatile.
You’ll then have the following Fragments to supplement your assassin playstyle:
- Echo of Obscurity grants invisibility when finishing enemies.
- Echo of Harvest spawns Orbs of Power and Void Breaches when killing a weakened enemy.
- Echo of Starvation grants Devour when picking up Orbs of Power or Void Breaches.
- Echo of Persistence extends the duration of Void buffs (invisibility, overshield, devour).
- Echo of Undermining weakens enemies with any grenade damage.
Regarding destructive power, any grenade can work just fine, but Scatter Grenades deal the highest explosion damage among them. As for melee capabilities, the Smoke Bomb is the only option you have, so it’s essential that you utilize it to initiate combat. Be sure to select Gambler’s Dodge as your ability to ready your Smoke Bombs as frequently as possible.

Feel free to employ any version of the Shadowshot you’re comfortable with, but I personally opt for Deadfall due to its extended duration and ability to bind more foes. On the other hand, the Moebius Quiver is most effective when it comes to dealing damage (DPS).
… Now You Don’t

As a seasoned Hunter, I can’t help but appreciate the intricate connection between all these aspects and the exotic chest piece, the Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk. It’s one of my favorite pieces of armor for Hunters due to its unique perks. When I choose to break my invisibility manually, it equips my Void weapons with Volatile Rounds. But that’s not all; this hauberk also boosts our team’s damage and grants overshields whenever we finish an enemy while still cloaked.
Running out of Invisibility won’t grant you Volatile Rounds; instead, you need to actively engage in an attack action to emerge from Invisibility and gain Volatile Rounds.

For this build, it’s crucial to find the most effective Void-based weapons since we’re focusing on Void abilities. Notably, the Hard Light shines in this setup due to its perk “The Fundamentals,” which amplifies your damage whenever you inflict a Void debuff or collect a Void Breach. Consequently, you’ll frequently have a damage boost while wielding Hard Light.
Luckily, acquiring Hard Light isn’t much of a challenge. You can purchase it from Xur during the weekends when he has it in stock, or you might also find it as a rare drop at random.
Equipped with all these skills, armor, and weaponry, you’ll start battles by smartly deploying a smoky distraction, disorienting your foe and paving the way for victory. Now you’ve become undetectable.

After a foe is tagged, it doesn’t matter who it is, since eliminating it results in the release of a foggy cloud that diminishes the power of neighboring adversaries. Even if no enemy is weakened, you still have your Volatile bullets, which activate Gyrfalcon’s inherent ability, thereby rendering you invisible.
This establishes a continuous cycle of Void-debuffs and Invisibility, transforming you into an ethereal, invulnerable entity on the battlefield. When combined with the heightened regenerative capabilities from Devour, On The Prowl, and Gyrfalcon, you’ll invariably have an ample supply of smoke bombs, dodges, and grenades at your disposal.
Alternatives
Indeed, you may not possess the Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk or Hard Light, instead you might need to consider alternative choices.
If that’s the case, then Omnioculus or Orpheus Rig might be better alternatives for you.
- Omnioculus gives you a second smoke bomb charge, and every teammate rendered invisible gives everybody damage resist and you refunds in melee energy. Replace Stylish Executioner with Trapper’s Ambush.
- Orpheus Rig is also a decent option but relies more on your Super. Each Tethered enemy returns Super energy (up to 50%) and ability energy. You may use either Trapper’s Ambush, Vanishing Step, or Stylish Executioner for this.
If you’re looking for an alternative weapon, you may find the Hard Light less appealing, but consider giving these Void weapons a shot instead. They could prove to be equally effective.
- Collective Obligation is the Vow of the Disciple’s exotic weapon. It can leech any Void debuff from enemies it damages and can be activated at any time.
- Graviton Lance can be easily found early in the game and deals heavy damage to enemies while making them explode with contagious void blasts.
If you’re new to this and don’t possess any of the mentioned weapons or armor, my advice is to opt for the equipment that makes you feel most at ease. Essentially, go for Void weaponry, and you should be well on your way to embodying the assassin Hunter role.

2. Warlock
Unlimited Power!

Warlocks in Arc games have historically struggled with both durability and versatility. However, with the addition of the Ionic Sentry, they can now control specific zones and incapacitate enemies. This allows for a sequence of abilities and strikes that will render them immobile.
To put it simply, Ionic Sentry is a fresh feature for the Arc class, similar to Gunpowder Gamble of the Hunter but for Warlocks. By defeating foes with Kinetic or Arc weapons or abilities, you fill up a meter (maximum 6). When full, your grenade transforms into an Ionic Sentry that can be placed to momentarily blind enemies and intermittently electrify surrounding ones with chain lightning.
With each foe struck by the Ionic Sentry, you gain a stack of Bolt Charge. Once you accumulate 10 stacks, this latest Arc buff summons a bolt of lightning downward.
Given that Ionic Traces are among the most potent elemental loots in the game, we’re going to take full advantage of them by using Electrostatic Mind. This item generates an Ionic Trace whenever an enemy is vanquished by a Arc ability, or if a foe under an Arc debuff is defeated. You’ll be swimming in Ionic Traces!
You’ll need to have the following Fragments to supplement your playstyle:
- Spark of Resistance grants damage resistance when you are surrounded by enemies.
- Spark of Ions creates an Ionic Trace when an enemy is defeated with Jolt or Bolt Charge.
- Spark of Discharge creates an Ionic Trace when an enemy is defeated with an Arc weapon. Additionally, collecting an Ionic Trace grants you a stack of Bolt Charge.
- Spark of Beacons creates a blinding explosion when you land final blows with Arc special and heavy weapons.
The choice on how to utilize your grenade and melee skills is entirely yours. However, I discovered that the Pulse Grenade inflicts significant continuous damage, whereas Chain Lightning provides an additional method for delivering a Jolt.

Even though Stormtrance received a hefty buff, you’ll need Chaos Reach for our Exotic armor.
Ima Firin’ Mah Lazer!

For this particular build, the top-tier exotic armor you should consider is the Geomag Stabilizers. This armor not only significantly extends the time of your Chaos Reach super, but also gives you 7% Super energy each time you gather Ionic Traces.
Ionic Traces also grant 12.5% grenade and melee energy, and 15% class ability energy.

In this build, we prioritize weapons that complement the Arc subclass. The Delicate Tomb is a fantastic choice because it dishes out heavy burst damage and aids in clearing areas with Spark of Beacons and its built-in perk. Additionally, you’ll never have to worry about reloading due to its Catalyst, which automatically refills some ammo when you gather an Ionic Trace.
Due to the harmonious interaction between Fragments, Aspects, and equipment, you will effectively generate Ionic Traces at a high rate, and maintain a nearly constant state of Amplification.
Alternatives
Two alternative armor choices serve a similar purpose, yet emphasize distinct elements of the Arc Warlock journey.
- Fallen Sunstar places more emphasis on Ionic Traces, which move faster toward you and grant you more ability energy (25% grenade and melee, 30% class ability) when collected. Collecting them also gives nearby allies (15m) 10% ability energy, so this is more focused on teamplay as well.
- Crown of Tempests provides a more passive playstyle. Arc ability or Jolt final blows increase your ability recharge rate based on stacks of Conduction Tines, giving you a maximum of five times the ability regen.
As a passionate player, I found myself in a situation where I couldn’t obtain Delicate Tomb without first completing the Final Shape mission. The catch? This coveted reward can only be claimed from the Exotic weapon kiosk, but here’s the twist – accessing this kiosk necessitates owning the Witch Queen expansion.
To clarify, I’m offering a few suggestions that could potentially be more suitable for novice or returning gamers who haven’t obtained the Witch Queen expansion:
3. Since you may not have the Witch Queen expansion, I’d like to propose some alternate choices that may be more suitable for your play style:
Choose the one that resonates with your writing style!
- Coldheart is a free-to-play Exotic that can be acquired through random Exotic engrams or Xur and generates Ionic Traces when it’s at its high-damage state.
- Thunderlord is another free-to-play Exotic that is also a random drop or sold by Xur. It doesn’t synergize as much with the build, but it deals an insane amount of sustained damage.
It’s good to know that the majority of the weapons and armor are conveniently within reach for both newcomers and veterans. Regardless of your equipment, this build should function just fine if you focus on constructing it around Jolt and creating Ionic Traces as a priority.
TL;DR
Class | Stormcaller |
---|---|
Super | Chaos Reach |
Grenade | Pulse Grenade |
Melee | Chain Lightning |
Class Ability | Healing Rift |
Aspects | Electrostatic Mind, Ionic Sentry |
Fragments | Spark of Beacons, Spark of Resistance, Spark of Discharge, Spark of Ions |
Exotic Armor | Geomag Stabilizers. Alternatively: Fallen Sunstar, Crown of Tempests |
Weapons | Delicate Tomb OR Coldheart |
1. Titans
Behold, The God Of Thunder!

Titans in Destiny function as mobile battle tanks, absorbing damage and retaliating with a powerful, ear-splitting blow. The latest aspect, Storm’s Keep, amplifies a Titan’s capacity to transform into a moving stronghold through the use of the barricade ability.
By using your class skill at Storm’s Keep, an exclusive animation takes place that awards a modest number of Bolt Charge stacks to you and your close-by comrades. Maintaining a position behind the protective barrier progressively accumulates additional Bolt Charge stacks.

Typically, you can unload your maximum stacks exclusively through ability damage. However, Storm’s Keep enables you to release the lightning using weapon damage too.
Based on its kind, your Barricade may provoke adversaries and attract their attention, or you could gain numerous stat boosts by positioning yourself behind it.
To keep you strong and durable, don’t forget to equip Knockout too. This gear restores some of your health upon melee kills and offers additional advantages, similar to the Arc Warlock setup you’re familiar with.
As a fellow enthusiast, I personally prefer the excitement that Pulse Grenade and Thunderclap bring to the game. However, the recent modifications to Arc Titan have made Ballistic Slam an intriguing alternative. It accumulates Bolt Charge stacks depending on the number of targets hit, making it a viable choice indeed.
If you’re more inclined towards Thundercrash, it’s generally considered superior, given its capability to inflict significant damage with just one strike, compared to Fists of Havoc.
Deploying Missile Barrage

The primary emphasis in crafting this build revolves around enhancing your Class Skill, and there’s no better armor for the job than Hazardous Propulsion. With each enemy you vanquish, this chest piece stores up to a total of six Exodus Rockets, allowing you to unleash them all at once when you activate your Class Ability.
As a thrilled enthusiast, I’d like to share an exciting detail: Every time an Exodus Rocket touches down, the potency of any rocket-based damage surges! It jumps from a 10% boost to a whopping 35% enhancement. Keep in mind that “rocket-type” weaponry encompasses both Rocket Sidearms and Rocket Launchers.

So long as you continuously produce Ionic Traces, you’ll continually use your Class Ability, which will accumulate lots of Bolt Charge stacks and provide numerous chances for launching your missiles.
Swiftly eliminate crowds with rapid-fire weapons such as autorifles (Khvostov being exceptional), enabling you to swiftly charge your rockets for discharge against tougher opponents. Additionally, these rockets can be utilized in a practical manner, boosting your rocket damage during boss DPS phases.
In this build, the gameplay tends to be somewhat methodical as you must strategically position yourself behind your rally barricade in Storm’s Keep to optimize Bolt Charge gain. This means being cautious not to squander a barricade or risk excessive enemy fire exposure.
Alternatives
* Approach Rahool in the Tower and explore the possibilities he might offer for acquiring the item.
* Engage in other activities within the game that could potentially reward you with an Exotic engram, thus allowing you to get your hands on the Hazardous Propulsion.
* Collaborate with other players who may have extra copies of Hazardous Propulsion or be able to assist you in obtaining one through their own resources.
- Actium War Rig continuously refills the ammo reserves of your auto rifles and machine guns, allowing you to discharge lightning at a much more consistent rate. Thunderlord makes the most use of this and can shred through anything with its high fire rate and damage.
- Citan’s Ramparts has gone through a rough rollercoaster of nerfs and buffs, and now its health is buffed back to what it was in PvE. With this Exotic, you can shoot through your Towering Barricade while behind it, giving you some relative safety.
While there are no required weapons for this build, here are some other options to consider:
- Indebted Kindness is an Arc rocket-assisted sidearm that can roll with Voltshot. This can be acquired from Warlord’s Ruin. Otherwise, any rocket sidearm will do.
- Grand Overture may be a machine gun, but it can fire a missile barrage after charging it for a maximum of 20 stacks. It can only be acquired from Witch Queen expansion.
- Crux Termination IV is excellent for DPS, as it can roll with Reconstruction and Explosive Light. This is a world drop.
TL;DR
Class | Striker |

Super | Thundercrash |
Grenade | Pulse Grenade |
Melee | Thunderclap |
Class Ability | Rally Barricade |
Aspects | Knockout, Storm’s Keep |
Fragments | Spark of Beacons, Spark of Resistance, Spark of Discharge, Spark of Ions |
Exotic Armor | Hazardous Propulsion. Alternatively: Actium War Rig, Citan’s Ramparts |
