Destiny 2: Burning Ambition Perk, Explained

In Destiny 2, Solar subclasses primarily focus on enhancing allies while causing damage to enemies. If you prefer a more destructive approach, there are numerous methods available for you. One such method is the Burning Ambition weapon perk, which is ideal if you enjoy observing the environment go up in flames as you take it easy.

Introduced together with the launch of “The Edge of Fate,” Burning Ambition has quickly become a valuable asset for Solar characters in “Destiny 2.” This article will delve into how this perk functions and provide tips on maximizing its benefits. Enjoy the read!

Destiny 2: Burning Ambition Perk Effect

The Burning Ambition ability grants a persistent effect on targets, causing them to be set ablaze after enduring continuous damage from you. If a target is already on fire, this perk escalates the situation by adding more layers of burning, amplifying the damage they sustain over time due to the flames.

In the game “Edge of Fate”, this advantage is available on a few Solar weapons at launch, and one of the easiest to obtain for players is the Ahab Char Auto Rifle. This weapon can be acquired from Portal activities, making it accessible to players who don’t own any of the game’s expansions. Other options include…

  • Stars in Shadow (Pulse Rifle)
  • Pre Astyanax IV (Bow)
  • Returned Memory (Sidearm)
  • Unwavering Duty (Machine Gun)
  • Agape (Hand Cannon – Edge of Fate)

Trigger Condition

The required number of shots to activate Burning Ambition varies based on the weapon you’re using and its ammunition capacity. For instance, we’ve examined this using an Agape Hand Cannon in the shooting range at CARL within the Tower, and here’s what we found:

  1. An Agape with a mag size of 18 triggers Burning Ambition on its sixth burst (12 hits).
  2. Increasing the Agape’s mag size to 24 also increases the number of hits it takes to trigger Burning Ambition to eight bursts (16 hits).
  3. Weakspot hits do not make Burning Ambition trigger more quickly.
  4. An Incendiary Grenade plus Burning Ambition is enough to trigger an Ignition without Ember of Ashes.
  5. Hammer Strike with a Burning Ambition proc will trigger an Ignition without Ember of Ashes.
  6. Landing all 18 bullets from an Agape will trigger an Ignition of the target is primed by a Firebolt Grenade with Ember of Ashes.
  7. Agape with Burning Ambition will eventually trigger an Ignition if you continuously shoot a target with it.
  8. Each hit with a Burning Ambition weapon increases the target’s Scorch stacks if it is already Scorched.

Recommendation

To effectively deal damage against Majors, Bosses, or groups of adds, consider utilizing Burning Ambition. First, apply Scorch to your target using your abilities or weapons. Subsequently, detonate them with Burning Ambition. This tactic not only inflicts substantial damage but also eliminates any nearby adds. Furthermore, if you possess Ember of Char, there’s a chance you could initiate a chain reaction of Ignitions amongst multiple enemies.

In a team setting, Tommy’s Matchbook, equipped with its catalyst, can act as a superior igniter for firearms boasting the Burning Ambition trait. The combined armament will amplify their Scorch effect sequentially, leading to consecutive explosions against heavily armored foes.
