Destiny 2 Edge of Fate Announces Big Changes to Vendors and Inventory

In the upcoming “The Edge of Fate” expansion for “Destiny 2”, Bungie is planning significant gameplay alterations for Tower vendors, as well as a complete overhaul of their inventories. This marks a new chapter in the journey of “Destiny 2”, with Bungie gradually unveiling some of the major modifications planned for the game upon the release of its latest expansion in July.

In addition to introducing a fresh storyline and equipment to collect, The Edge of Fate update for Destiny 2 is set to introduce significant modifications. Among these changes is the new Portal menu selector, designed to provide players with increased control over their gameplay choices. Additionally, the armor system in Destiny 2 is receiving improvements, such as the addition of set bonuses and a new tiered system that grants higher stats and superior perks as the level increases. Moreover, Bungie has confirmed extensive alterations to the vendors in the Tower, potentially making them more attractive options for players.

In their most recent blog update, Bungie has decided to permanently retire the reputation system for all vendors in The Tower except Hawthorne from Destiny 2. This move comes with the elimination of certain rewards, but Bungie did assure players that there have been adjustments made to the reward system across the game due to a fresh strategy. However, the blog post didn’t provide specifics about this new approach at this time. In addition to hinting at new reward possibilities, the post also confirmed that each vendor will undergo changes to their inventory, with the aim of providing a more focused and streamlined offering.

Destiny 2 Changing Vendor Inventories After the Reputation System Removal

Each vendor in Destiny 2 – Ada-1, Banshee-44, and Rahool – will specialize in their offerings to players. To illustrate, Banshee-44 won’t provide Gunsmith Reputation or engrams for sale anymore; instead, he’ll only deal legacy weapons at a cost of 15,000 glimmer and 3 enhancement cores each. Rahool will continue to let players focus on exotic armor from previous expansions, but exotic armor from The Edge of Fate can be obtained solely by completing the legendary campaign. Lastly, Ada-1 will now handle Xur’s stock of legendary armor in addition to the usual Threader Bounties and a revamped Transmog Bounty system.

In Destiny 2, it appears that significant alterations have affected the weekend vendor, Xur. Over time, Xur’s stock has grown to include randomly rolled gear, but in The Edge of Fate, he no longer offers legendary armor or activity engrams. Instead, he now arrives each week with two exotic armor pieces per class, one being a legacy item and the other from the Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, and The Final Shape expansions. Previously unlocked class exotics will always be available during weekends. Additionally, Xur will also carry nine legendary weapons, some of which are drawn from the Brave Arsenal, Legacy Nightfall, and Trials of Osiris pools.
