Destiny 2 Has Two Key Ways to Make Exotic Class Items As Right As Rain

Destiny 2 Has Two Key Ways to Make Exotic Class Items As Right As Rain

Highlights

  • Destiny 2’s Exotic class items are controversial due to a lack of loot protection and specific roll probabilities.
  • There are two possible solutions that include attunement features like Brave weapons and Dual Destiny getting a Master Mode for easier farming.
  • These changes could improve the Exotic class item grind, making it more rewarding for players.

As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent patrolling the Last City and beyond, I can attest to the rollercoaster ride that is Destiny 2’s loot system. From the infamous Curse of Osiris memes to the current excitement over The Final Shape weapons, the journey has been nothing short of epic.

Over time, the loot system in Destiny 2 has experienced a rollercoaster ride, evolving from the infamous Curse of Osiris meme where players could only obtain two tokens and a blue item after exhausting themselves farming Heroic Events, to a point where weapon crafting allowed players to decide every detail about their guns. However, this journey of peaks and troughs persists even today. Although The Final Shape weapons and armor in Destiny 2 are among the best, they’re not perfect. In fact, since their introduction, Exotic class items have been plagued with issues.

Initially, Exotic class items in Destiny 2 were heavily promoted due to inheriting two exotic perks from existing armor sets. However, their debut was met with disappointment. The main issue arose from the associated exotic mission, Dual Destiny, which necessitates extensive teamwork between two players and cannot be completed alone. To make matters worse, each of Destiny 2’s sought-after armor pieces boast 64 possible roll variations (amounting to 192 total rolls across all three classes). Unfortunately, there’s no mechanism in place for bad luck protection or a system to guarantee success. Despite these challenges, Bungie has proposed two potential solutions in addition to what is scheduled with the game’s early August update.

Currently, Bungie is lowering the probability of finding Exotic class items from random Pale Heart chests, yet boosting that chance from Overthrow chests. At the same time, they’re making it so that the first weekly completion of Dual Destiny rewards not one but two Exotic class items instead.

Why Destiny 2’s Exotic Class Items Are Controversial

In the gaming world of Destiny 2, I can’t help but feel the buzz surrounding those Exotic class items. Here’s the kicker: there’s absolutely no protection for these loot drops, which means when you’re farming them out, you might end up wanting specific rolls and finding zero luck. The odds of landing that particular roll are 1 in 64, a figure that doesn’t budge whether you’ve already collected dozens or even hundreds of the same roll. Time to keep grinding!

While Bungie’s proposed adjustments to Overthrow chests and Dual Destiny might appear beneficial, they could merely be addressing a small aspect of the issue. The community finds the decreased drop rate from random Pale Heart chests less than satisfying, but it seems this is an effort by the company to combat macro users in Destiny 2 who hoard items without actively playing.

How Destiny 2 Can Improve The Exotic Class Item Farm

Destiny 2’s Brave Weapons Offer a Perfect Blueprint For Improving Exotic Class Item Farming

An effective method for Bungie to significantly enhance the process of acquiring desirable builds for Exotic class items is by implementing a system similar to Destiny 2’s Brave Arsenal weapons. Introduced previously and then re-introduced with new rolls in Into The Light, these weapons can be obtained by completing the Onslaught activity within the Vanguard tab. Initially, players could link their weapons to specific Brave ones to increase the frequency of drops, and now this same linking feature is set to return with the early August update, even without the Hall of Champions. This linking system could be adapted for Exotic class items, increasing the likelihood of a specific perk appearing, but only one at a time.

A Dual Destiny Master Mode Could Kill Two Birds With One Stone

As a dedicated Destiny 2 player, I can’t help but feel frustrated when it comes to grinding for that perfect roll. One significant improvement Bungie could make is ensuring a higher chance of getting the desired perks. However, they could take it a step further and introduce challenges in Dual Destiny or a Master mode that rewards double perks in at least one column of the Exotic class item, if not both. This would mirror the system used in Grandmaster Nightfalls, where Adept weapons have multiple perks based on reputation resets with Zavala, making the grind for the perfect roll less daunting and more manageable.

If changes were to be made in ‘Destiny 2’, particularly to the grind for Exotic class items, it would make the process easier and more worthwhile for players without taking away the thrill of obtaining a perfectly tailored weapon, often referred to as a ‘god roll’. In ‘Destiny 2’, god rolls play a crucial role in the loot system. Given the existing controversy surrounding Exotic class items, these changes could significantly enhance their standing among players.
