Destiny 2 Hotfix in May 2025 Fixes Bugs and Tweaks Events

Summary

  • Destiny 2 Update 8.2.6.2 focuses on bug fixes, including reducing match chance for Trials of Osiris.
  • The smaller update also fixed a bug that dropped Rite of the Nine weapons at zero power
  • Bungie continues to make tweaks to Destiny 2, recently reducing Dungeon rotation to two weeks for Rite of the Nine.

In a recent update, Bungie rolled out version 8.2.6.2 for the game Destiny 2, fine-tuning various activities such as Rite of the Nine and others. As Episode Heresy winds down towards its summer conclusion, Bungie is persistently refining the fundamental experience of Destiny 2. A significant alteration was recently made to the ongoing Rite of the Nine event within the game.

After the release of Rite of the Nine, players found that certain dungeons changed after three weeks, a detail that wasn’t previously announced. This time-gated content caused a lot of discontent among players, which eventually reached Bungie. In response, they made significant adjustments to the Destiny 2 schedule, reducing the rotation period to every two weeks instead. Additionally, Bungie increased the drop rate of Nonary Manifold currency and announced an exciting “lootapalooza” event scheduled for July.

During the regular reset for Destiny 2, developer Bungie took the game offline briefly to roll out Update 8.2.6.2. This update, while smaller than many past patches, concentrates more on resolving bugs and issues within the core game rather than introducing significant new features. For instance, the Trials of Osiris has been tweaked so that duos are less likely to be paired with trios during matchmaking, and a pesky bug that caused Rite of the Nine weapons to drop at zero power has been squashed.

Beyond the update details in the patch notes, the Destiny 2 team also shared some additional insights about the Rite of the Nine activity and how players can acquire its rewards. To get adaptable versions of certain dungeon equipment from the Nonary Manifolds chest next to the Emissary, players must initially earn them through the activity. Therefore, it’s recommended that players start with Eternity difficulty or, if possible, progress through Ultimatum difficulty for the highest chance at obtaining new gear.

Although the Rite of the Nine has been positively received, many players are eagerly awaiting the upcoming expansion for Destiny 2. Previously referred to as Codename: Frontiers, the Year of Prophecy roadmap has been unveiled, featuring two new expansions – The Edge of Fate in July, and additional updates midway through each DLC period. Also, players can expect a Star Wars-inspired expansion called Renegards towards the end of 2025.
