In advance of the July release of the “Edge of Fate” expansion for Destiny 2, Bungie has hinted at significant modifications coming to the armor system within the game. The excitement surrounding the upcoming Edge of Fate expansion for Destiny 2 escalates as Bungie discloses details about how the content will transform and enhance the existing player experience.
In early May, Bungie started unveiling the extensive details of Destiny 2’s Year of Prophecy, the latest chapter previously codenamed Codename: Frontiers. As part of this unveil, new gameplay for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate was showcased, along with a fixed release date on July 15th. This new content mainly revolves around The Nine, a secretive faction, who players will be joining in their exploration of the planetoid Kepler, learning new destination abilities. Moreover, Bungie is also planning several modifications to the core gameplay experience, particularly the functioning of armor.
As the highly anticipated expansion for Destiny 2 approaches, Bungie is unveiling fresh insights about the numerous modifications on the horizon. While they’ve hinted at an Armor 3.0 system for Destiny 2 earlier, they’re now disclosing specifics about what transformations are taking place, such as a new tier system. The new system introduces tiers to gear, and as players advance to higher levels, they can expect improved stats, additional perks, and more general bonuses.

In the upcoming changes for Destiny 2’s expansion, The Edge of Fate, a notable adjustment is the comprehensive redesign of gear stats. The old stats will be replaced by the new ones as follows:
- Mobility is now Weapons
- Resilience is now Health
- Recovery is now Class
- Strength is now Melee
- Discipline is now Grenade
- Intellect is now Super
According to Bungie’s recent blog post, Health affects flinch resistance, healing, and shield recharge rates. Melee, Class, and Grenade abilities influence their cooldown times, damage output, and energy gain. Super abilities determine the amount of energy gained from defeating enemies and overall damage value. Lastly, Weapons affect factors like reload and handling speeds, damage against enemies, and increased ammo drops. Additionally, Bungie has set the base values for Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery at 30, 100, and 60 respectively.
Bungie intends for The Edge of Fate to mark a fresh chapter in the game’s development. They’ve even unveiled a new plan for the future of Destiny 2, detailing content updates for the coming year. The first significant update, titled Ash & Iron, is set for release on September 9. Furthermore, a Star Wars-inspired expansion called Renegades is planned for release on December 2. Lastly, another major update called Shadow & Order will drop on March 3, offering new content, activities, reward passes, and more.
