Before the release of Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy in February, Bungie has shared some improvements to gameplay experience, such as shifting Iron Banner’s schedule. Meanwhile, players can now complete the final chapter of Episode Revenant, allowing them to wrap up the story and collect fresh loot in the process.
As a dedicated fan, I found myself grappling with the inconsistencies in Episode Revenant – a rollercoaster ride that left many of us divided on its story and content. While some found it surpassing the previous episode, there’s no denying that this chapter had its fair share of rough patches, such as the significant perk weighting issue that was a hot topic among Destiny 2 enthusiasts.
Yet, as Episode Revenant reaches its conclusion, the community’s focus has shifted towards Episode Heresy. Bungie has begun to unveil tantalizing glimpses of what’s to come, sparking excitement and curiosity in equal measure.
In their first blog post for 2025, Bungie unveiled some significant enhancements to resource caps, which are set to arrive with Episode Heresy. Notably, the cap for Destiny 2’s exclusive currency, Strange Coins, will rise from 99 to 199, benefiting players who trade with the exotic merchant Xur. Moreover, Osirian Ciphers and Nightfall Ciphers will see their caps increase from 10 to 30 each, enabling players to carry more of these items on them. Bungie hinted at further modifications pertaining to Trials of Osiris, urging fans to keep an eye out for a comprehensive update in the upcoming weeks.
Destiny 2 Changing Iron Banner’s Schedule
In addition to adjusting resource caps, the Destiny 2 development team addressed a fan’s concern on Twitter about the two-week schedule for Iron Banner that came with The Final Shape expansion. They confirmed that, starting with Episode Heresy, Iron Banner will only be available for one week. Most fans welcomed this change, although some expressed disappointment. Fans pointed out that the longer duration allowed those with limited playtime to earn triumphs required for the Iron Banner title in Destiny 2 and accumulate bonus reputation for faster progression.
Given the present situation of Destiny 2, fans are eagerly anticipating that Bungie has substantial plans for the upcoming episode, as Episode Revenant was considered a low point for the series and its followers. The player count of Destiny 2 experienced a significant decline during Episode Revenant, which is particularly noteworthy given that it followed the hugely successful launch of the Final Shape expansion just months prior. Additionally, the game has been beset by various problems and glitches, with some major ones only being acknowledged by the community before Bungie addressed them.
