Destiny 2 New February 2026 Update Patch Notes Revealed

A new update for Destiny 2 is now available, and Bungie is working to fix several ongoing problems, including a peculiar glitch with the cookie oven during The Dawning event. Many players are concerned about the game’s direction, as Destiny 2, once a leading live-service title, seems to be facing some challenges, causing uncertainty about both its immediate and long-term future. Bungie hasn’t addressed these concerns directly, but recent reports suggest they may have to soon.

Originally planned for early March, the next big update for Destiny 2, titled Shadow and Order, is likely being delayed. Industry sources, including Paul Tassi, are reporting a significant postponement, though Bungie hasn’t officially confirmed it. With the expected release date of March 3rd fast approaching, an announcement is expected soon. Many believe the delay is to give Bungie’s new game, Marathon, which launches on March 5th, more focus.

As a big Destiny 2 fan, I’m starting to get a little worried. We haven’t heard much about what’s coming in 2026, and it feels like Bungie is focusing a lot of effort on Marathon right now. They are still supporting Destiny 2 though, and recently released another update – mostly bug fixes, it looks like. The patch notes were actually pretty interesting; they even mentioned a weird glitch where some players still had Eva’s Dawning Oven in their inventories weeks after the event ended! It’s just…strange that it hadn’t been automatically removed. Hopefully, this means they’re still paying attention to the little things, but I’m definitely hoping we get some big Destiny 2 news soon.

This update also fixes several other issues, including problems with the Renegades Lawless Frontier activity in Destiny 2. Specifically, enemies could sometimes get stuck behind doors during Sabotage missions on Mars, halting progress. Additionally, a bug caused the Compact Defender Sidearm to have reduced damage when players used an Overclocked Heatsink mod.

This update probably won’t address the concerns many players have about Destiny 2. With players eager for news about the game’s future, many are asking why the popular Iron Banner PvP mode has been absent for so long. It usually appears several times each season, but it’s been missing much longer than usual. Instead, we’ve seen the Arms Week event three times. Plus, with the Shadow and Order content potentially delayed until May, players are worried about the overall roadmap, which they expected to resemble last year’s. Many now believe a possible expansion planned for July will likely be pushed back to the fall, potentially competing with other major game releases.

While there’s talk that Bungie might be starting work on Destiny 3, many players are worried the company is losing focus on Destiny 2. Bungie is currently prioritizing Marathon, a game that’s improved after a rocky start with early tests, and recent previews have been well-received. As Marathon gains traction, the future of Destiny 2 is a big question for the community.
