As a long-time Destiny 2 player and enthusiast, I can wholeheartedly say that this latest update from Bungie is music to our ears! After months of grappling with the Encore mission bugs, it’s finally time for us Guardians to tackle those bosses without any hiccups.

In an ongoing tradition of updating and enhancing its games over the years, Bungie has rolled out update 8.0.5.4 for Destiny 2. This new version tackles several Encore-related glitches, tunes class abilities, and implements a much-anticipated modification to the Fireteam Finder. As players conclude the final Act of Episode: Echoes, they’ll also have an opportunity to mark the latest milestone in Destiny’s 10-year journey.

In the game Episode: Echoes, the mission titled Encore plays a significant role, compelling players to replay it frequently in order to open hidden treasure chests, discover fresh biological samples for Failsafe, and unlock additional features for the Choir of One auto rifle. The Choir of One has garnered immense popularity due to its ability to shoot void blasts reminiscent of Vex Wyverns, swiftly vaporizing enemies. However, the Encore mission in Destiny 2 initially had several glitches that prevented players from completing the activity or even obtaining the weapon. Fortunately, Bungie has rectified these problems and other issues with the most recent update for Destiny 2.

During the usual weekly reset in Destiny 2, Update 8.0.5.4 was implemented as well, tackling various problems and modifying certain game mechanics. The exotic mission Encore in Destiny 2 received significant focus in this update, with the activity now being accessible through the Fireteam Finder. Three bugs were specifically addressed, one of which rendered the final boss invulnerable to all damage, halting any progression. Bungie also announced a fix for a potential team wipe caused by placing a Connection Module prematurely during a specific mission segment.

Beyond Encore, this week’s update significantly tweaked several class skills, primarily focusing on the Hunter. The Threaded Specter, a Strand Aspect linked to dodging that creates a decoy for enemies, has undergone modifications. With the equipped Marksman Dodge and Gambler’s Dodge, the cooldown duration has been extended. Additionally, there is no longer a dodge cooldown penalty after a clone is generated, the time the clone distracts enemies has been amplified, and when it is destroyed, it will no longer produce Threadlings.

In addition to the Threaded Specter, Bungie made some adjustments to the Snare Bomb. They decreased its trap duration from 10 seconds to 3.5 seconds and reduced the penalty on player movement speed by 25%. Swarm Grenades now have a longer recharge time and are categorized in a slower tier for non-passive grenade energy gains. Lastly, a bug was fixed where the Twilight Arsenal Super was not unlocked for both Prismatic and Void subclasses on Titan characters.

This week saw significant revelations about Destiny 2’s future, as Bungie shared their long-term strategies. A sequence of blogs from Bungie unveiled Project Codefrontier, which includes two mid-sized expansions, with the first set to debut in the summer of 2025. Furthermore, they’ve announced four major overhauls for all players, revitalizing the game with fresh content and updates, as well as introducing new Reward Passes.
