Bungie shares fresh information about the forthcoming Arms Week event in Destiny 2, unveiling a potent new weapon and mods for players to acquire. With the recent expansion launch marking the beginning of the Year of Prophecy voyage in Destiny 2, Bungie gives insight into what more is in store for players in the coming weeks.
As a thrilled fan, I can’t help but feel that the debut of Edge of Fate was merely the start of an epic journey for us players, with the Year of Prophecy roadmap promising even more exciting content for Destiny 2. The Desert Perpetual raid, which recently graced our gaming screens, introduced new non-linear mechanics that truly resonated with players, albeit marred by technical glitches and other hurdles. Now, with the Raid behind us, Bungie is gearing up to unveil more of their roadmap, starting with a special limited-time event called Arms Week.
Before the August start of the Solstice event in Destiny 2, Bungie is launching Arms Week on July 29th (at reset). This limited-time event lasts for a week, focusing on a particular weapon category. During this first instance, players can initiate a new pursuit quest with Ada-1 at the shooting range by using Hand Cannons. By participating in gameplay, they can gather data to unlock fresh rewards. Additionally, there are new Daily and Weekly challenges available from the Event menu, which provide exclusive Holofoil weapons, Reroll Chips, and other perks.
Destiny 2 Arms Week Adds Unique New Weapon and Mods
During the Arms Week unveiling, Bungie spotlighted what they dubbed as the star of the show: the Phoneutria Fera Hand Cannon for Destiny 2. This is our very first spreadshot hand cannon, essentially a solar-powered pocket shotgun that feeds off primary ammo. Plus, gamers like us have the chance to score legacy hand cannons and a fresh Strand Adaptive Trace Rifle called Ribbontail.
Meanwhile, the upcoming event introduces temporary mods called Volatile Mods. These exclusive mods can only be attached to Destiny 2 Hand Cannons during the first Arms Week, and they come with impressive boosts. Here are some of the Volatile Mods Bungie has announced will be available:
This version maintains the original’s clarity while making the text more conversational and easier to read.
- Chaotic Munitions – Precision final blows produce randomized effects.
- Cowboy Grip – Supremely improved hip-fire weapon performance.
- Fragmentation Rounds – Precision final blows create multiple explosive submunitions.
It seems that Bungie is treating Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate as a long-term journey rather than a quick race. They have made it clear they will be molding the game based on fan input. Despite some initial hiccups during the launch of The Edge of Fate in Destiny 2, Bungie has consistently adjusted the game through updates and there are many more adjustments planned for the future.
