Destiny 2 Survey May Hint at Major New Content on the Way

Even with a new Star Wars expansion planned for December, Destiny 2 is still facing challenges with player numbers and overall interest. It seems Bungie might be turning to its player community for ideas on how to improve and breathe new life into the game, as suggested by a recent survey.

Although the Edge of Fate expansion initially offered hope for the future of Destiny 2, Bungie is now facing significant challenges. While the Final Shape expansion successfully concluded the decade-long Light and Darkness saga and was well-received, the game’s player base has dropped dramatically. Players are leaving due to bugs and unpopular changes to gameplay. Bungie is actively working to address these issues with updates and by reverting disliked features. A recent survey suggests they may be considering new content to revitalize the game.

Destiny 2 Survey Could Hint At Future Content

Bungie recently sent out a survey to some players, offering 500 Silver—the in-game currency for Destiny 2—as a thank you for their time. The survey asks players to rate a variety of potential new features, likely to gauge community interest. These features range from small improvements to significant changes that could greatly impact the game.

The survey details several changes to how the game is played. These include new abilities for the Strand, Stasis, and Void subclasses, a simpler way to score in Portal activities, a system for upgrading gear in tiers, and a prestige system that allows players to reset their power level for rewards. Because power levels have been a point of contention since the release of the Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate expansion, letting players choose to reset their power instead of being forced to do so with each new expansion is a welcome change.

The survey also asked players about their preferences for playlists, activities, and new ways to play. This included gauging interest in bringing back popular features like Gambit and the Sparrow Racing League. Players were able to share their thoughts on new difficulty levels for Raids and Dungeons, different types of PvP modes, and rotating activity playlists. Ideas like a competitive PvE event and a dedicated ‘Raid Night’ with extra rewards were also presented for feedback. Finally, players could rank how interested they were in seeing older Destiny 2 campaigns become available again through the Portal.

The survey also asked players about features they’d like to see added to the game. These included bringing back older storylines like the Red War campaign, a place to show off in-game achievements (like a trophy room), helpful NPC companions, and new, engaging side quests given by NPCs. Players also expressed interest in improvements to Clan features and a better introduction for new players, as many feel the current onboarding process isn’t very welcoming.

It’s important to remember that none of the features mentioned in the survey are guaranteed, but it’s encouraging to see Bungie considering so many fan requests. Despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the game, even after the release of a preliminary roadmap for Destiny 2: Renegades, this survey suggests Bungie is working towards a plan that players will likely appreciate.
