The teaser of upcoming exotic gear changes has me on the edge of my seat, especially considering the dominance Graviton Lance has shown in lower and middle skill lobbies. While I’ve grown fond of its 450 RPM, I understand the need for balance.

As the holiday season nears, Bungie hints at exciting exotic updates for Destiny 2 starting in January, coinciding with the launch of Act 3. With Act 2 winding down, players of Destiny 2 can use this lull to explore content or gather specific items they might need before Act 3 begins on January 7.

To ease the idle periods, game developer Bungie has introduced the annual celebration known as The Dawning within Destiny 2. Although most of the event retains its traditional aspects such as gathering ingredients and baking cookies for non-player characters, this year introduces a community challenge, a novel Void linear fusion rifle, and an armor set inspired by dragons. With all these additions and the festive season fast approaching, Bungie aims to prepare players for what’s in store during the upcoming new year.

2024 saw Bungie revealing its roadmap for the remainder of the year and early January in the last blog post of the year. Earlier during a Destiny 2 event, it was disclosed that Bungie would skip an Act 3 livestream due to the holiday break. The recent blog update did offer some insights, such as key dates like the Iron Banner’s comeback on January 14, the launch of a new dungeon on February 7, and Episode Revenant Act 3’s debut on January 7 at reset.

Destiny 2 Act 3 Exotic Gear Changes

In simpler terms, for many enthusiasts, the significant announcement came later when Bungie shared some details about an upcoming update due on January 14th. They mentioned that certain weapon types and weapon enhancements will be adjusted, but they also emphasized three specific exotic items undergoing modifications. The Stoicism class item’s exotic bug is being fixed for Spirit of Alpha Lupi, the Malfeasance hand cannon is receiving an enhancement because it was previously lacking effects from the Precision Hand Cannon perk. However, the Graviton Lance exotic pulse rifle is getting a power reduction since Bungie observed that it’s overpowering in lower and intermediate skill groups. To balance this, they plan to reduce Graviton Lance’s RPM back to 300, which was its rate prior to the Act 2 update.

It’s expected that Destiny 2 will receive its significant post-holiday update soon, as the latest patch aims to rectify a bothersome bug concerning Tomb of Elders tonics. Players have been frustrated due to a bug that caused incorrect weapon drop rates from these tonics during Episode Revenant. Fortunately, Destiny 2 has received an update recently which successfully addresses this issue.
