Summary
- Players prioritize Trials of Osiris for powerful weapon rewards in Destiny 2 PvP and PvE.
- Different weapons excel in either PvE or PvP content, impacting players’ weapon choices.
- Exalted Truth and Keen Thistle stand out as top-tier weapons for PvP and PvE activities.
In Destiny 2, the Trials of Osiris represents the pinnacle of Player versus Player (PvP) content, where Guardians engage in intense competition against each other. Notably, any defeat results in having to start all over again. Despite Bungie making it more accessible to reach the Lighthouse, a unique social space for those who have won seven games without losing any, not everyone seems interested in scaling this particular peak.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I can’t help but express my gratitude for the captivating activity known as Trials of Osiris. With an array of formidable weapon rewards that prove to be exceptionally potent in both Player versus Player (PvP) and Player versus Environment (PvE) content, it’s no wonder why so many gamers are drawn to this challenge. Rather than showcasing PvP prowess, the allure often lies in acquiring these weapons. In light of Episode Heresy, I’ve compiled a list, ranking each weapon according to their strength across both domains. Enjoy!
6. Yesterday’s Question
Arc Heavy Burst Hand Cannon

- Best PvE Roll: Dragonfly and Voltshot
- Best PvP Roll: To The Pain and Headseeker
Yesterday’s Question is one of five Heavy Burst frame hand cannons, and it stands out as the only one among them that deals Arc damage. The primary appeal of this weapon lies in its Arc-related perks, particularly Voltshot. This feature enables Yesterday’s Question to effectively clear a room by chaining Arc damage. When combined with Dragonfly, it enhances the elemental explosions that occur upon landing a precision kill, making it even more powerful.
In PvE, this weapon excels, but may not measure up against certain Heavy Burst alternatives in PvP. Yet, when equipped with To The Pain and Headseeker, it could become an effective dueling tool. However, it’s generally outperformed by most other hand cannons. Instead, for a superior Arc hand cannon in PvP, the returning Palindrome is a more potent choice.
5. Tomorrow’s Answer
Void High-Impact Frame Rocket Launcher

- Best PvE Roll: Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch
- Best PvP Roll: Impulse Amplifier and Cluster Bombs
Tomorrow’s Answer has significant potential, as it can effectively utilize Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch, perks that activate when damage is dealt with other equipped weapons, resulting in reloading this weapon and increasing its power. This sought-after combination is found on many rocket launchers, making Tomorrow’s Answer one of the top Void choices within the game. However, rocket launchers are currently out of favor in the meta, which means this weapon often goes unnoticed and undervalued.
Regarding the PvP benefits, Tomorrow’s Answer can be equipped with Impulse Amplifier and Cluster Bombs, which provide an extremely swift-moving rocket and a broad impact area. Yet, it should be noted that rocket launchers are generally not too effective in PvP scenarios.
4. Shayura’s Wrath
Void Precision Frame Submachine Gun

- Best PvE Roll: Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds
- Best PvP Roll: Zen Moment and Target Lock
Initially, Shayura’s Wrath was an extraordinarily potent monster in player-versus-player (PvP) combat, dominating the Crucible following its debut. Later, Guardians shifted away from the submachine gun (SMG) strategy, discovering victory with various alternative powerful choices. Yet, the updated perks on Shayura’s Wrath could render it indomitable in player-versus-environment (PvE), with Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds crafting an ideal Void configuration – particularly when wielded by a Void Hunter.
In PvP (Player vs Player), Shayura’s Wrath isn’t as dominating as before. Yet, when paired with Zen Moment and Target Lock, this weapon significantly enhances its precision and power over time, especially during prolonged engagements with a sole opponent.
3. Aisha’s Care
Strand Heavy Burst Pulse Rifle

- Best PvE Roll: Slice and Hatchling
- Best PvP Roll: Zen Moment and Headseeker or Desperado
Aisha’s Care stands out among numerous Heavy Burst pulse rifles, often ranking high among players’ preferred weapon categories. It’s the sole Strand representation of its type, making it an exceptional choice for PvE combat. The optimal build for this weapon includes Slice, enabling Sever spread after activating a class ability, and Hatchling, which spawns Strand Threadlings upon kills. This versatile weapon seamlessly integrates with nearly all Strand builds and is a staple in various PvE scenarios.
In PvP (Player versus Player) and PvE (Player versus Environment), Heavy Burst pulse rifles prove to be equally effective. The combination of Zen Moment and Headseeker or Desperado significantly enhances this weapon’s power in both one-on-one skirmishes and chain killing in multiplayer. With Zen Moment and Headseeker ensuring a more reliable performance, and Desperado increasing the gun’s firing speed, it becomes exceptionally deadly across most ranges, except for close-quarters melee combat where it may falter slightly.
2. Exalted Truth
Void Adaptive Frame Hand Cannon

- Best PvE Roll: Withering Gaze or Destabilizing Rounds and Repulsor Brace or Demoralize
- Best PvP Roll: Slideshot or Keep Away and Precision Instrument or Magnificent Howl
The recently brought back weapon from the Trials of Osiris, Exalted Truth, has quickly gained massive popularity. In Player versus Environment (PvE), this weapon is rare as it can be equipped with Withering Gaze and Destabilizing Rounds in the first column, along with Repulsor Brace and Demoralize in the second. Any of these permutations make for a highly potent PvE weapon, further enhanced by the periodic artifact mods.
In PvP combat, the Exalted Truth hand cannon can come equipped with either Slideshot or Keep Away, enhancing its performance at a distance. For those seeking to boost its damage output, Precision Instrument or Magnificent Howl are available as additional perk choices. This weapon is truly formidable when it comes to swiftly eliminating one Guardian after another in mid-range duels. However, it might face challenges when engaged at longer ranges.
1. Keen Thistle
Solar Aggressive Frame Sniper Rifle

- Best PvE Roll: Envious Arsenal or Triple Tap and Bait and Switch of Fourth Times The Charm
- Best PvP Roll: Snapshot Sights and Opening Shot
As a fervent enthusiast, let me share my excitement about the ultimate weapon on this list – Keen Thistle, debuting in Episode Heresy. This bad boy is not just powerful, but extraordinarily so, whether I’m battling it out in Player versus Environment (PvE) or Player versus Player (PvP).
In PvE, the weapon boasts Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch, making it a breeze to deal damage. But what really sets Keen Thistle apart is its potential for Triple Tap and Fourth Times The Charm – these perks let me fire an astonishing amount of ammo without needing to reload, as long as I continue landing precision shots. Simply put, this weapon is a game-changer!
In PvP gameplay, players generally prefer Snapshot Sights and Opening Shot as the optimal perk combinations for the Keen Thistle sniper rifle. These perks make it simple to quickly aim and hit enemies even at close ranges, while also improving long-range accuracy. Essentially, this weapon can be incredibly effective across various content types, and its power will likely increase in seasons where artifacts focus on sniper rifles.
