As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent traversing the cosmos in Destiny 2, I must say that the latest update has been a breath of fresh air. The Graviton Lance debacle was undoubtedly frustrating, but Bungie’s prompt response to rectify the situation is commendable.
In the latest update, version 8.0.5.2, Destiny 2 modifies the special ammo rules in the Crucible and makes various corrections, including reinstating the Graviton Lance pulse rifle to its proper condition. Although players are temporarily paused on the Episode: Echoes storyline, Bungie is keeping them engaged as the annual Solstice of Heroes event is ongoing in its third and final week. In addition to the Bonfire Bash activity, gamers can strive for unique glowing armor and aim for the best versions of new weapons such as the Crowning Duologue and Fortunate Star, among others.
Besides regularly refreshing game content, Bungie continually releases updates for Destiny 2, often on a regular basis. Occasionally, these updates may cause unexpected issues within the game, such as one recent update that inadvertently malfunctioned a weapon. The problem was identified in Update 8.0.5, which came out earlier this August. Upon closer examination, players found an anomaly with Graviton Lance, as it now fires significantly slower than before. Interestingly, some users observed that a longstanding issue with the pulse rifle appeared to have been resolved, enabling its perk to detonate enemies once, though the slow firing rate was disheartening.
I’m glad to report that the Graviton Lance problem has been successfully addressed in Destiny 2’s latest update. Although this update wasn’t as substantial as some previous ones, like the 8.0.5, it significantly improved the rate of fire (RPM) for Graviton Lance. Furthermore, a few weapon adjustments were made to rectify a glitch that lessened melee damage on Glaives and resolve a user interface (UI) issue with the Fortunate Star, ensuring accurate stat values are displayed when inspecting it. Lastly, the Osmiomancy Gloves and Spirit of Osmiomancy exotic perk will now consistently return energy when Coldsnap Grenades are employed against Champion adversaries.
As a devoted Destiny 2 enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the recent update brings a shift in Special Ammo regulations within the PvP Crucible playlist, particularly focusing on the Trials of Osiris activity. Instead of starting each round with a single kill’s worth of Special Ammo, we no longer do so. Now, Special ammo crates pop up at two predefined, impartial locations 10 seconds before the Dominion zone becomes active. Each player who interacts with these crates will receive enough ammo for a single kill.
In Destiny 2, players are thrilled at the prospect of using the Graviton Lance again, but there’s an ongoing problem with Bungie’s name change system. Lately, Bungie has acknowledged a significant number of player accounts being affected by this issue, which usually happens when a player breaches in-game rules. As they work on a solution, Bungie plans to distribute name change tokens to every player and has implemented a server-side adjustment to shield additional accounts from encountering this problem.
Destiny 2 Update 8.0.5.2 Patch Notes

- Updated the Special ammo rules for Trials of Osiris.
- Players will no longer spawn with one kill’s worth of Special ammo at the beginning of the round.
- A second set of Special ammo crates will now spawn at two fixed neutral locations 10 seconds before the Dominion zone becomes active.
- Each crate will still grant a single kill’s worth of ammo.

Armor
- Osmiomancy Gloves & Spirit of Osmiomancy
- Fixed an issue where Coldsnap grenades were not consistently granting energy back when used against Champions.
- Added an unkindled (non-glow) version of the Solstice 2024 Sublime armor as universal ornament options for Hunters and Titans (see note below).
- For players that have unlocked the armor glows for these sets during this year’s Solstice, both versions will be available to unlock in the appearance screen. If a player has not unlocked the glows, they will not be able to view the unkindled ornaments.
- Note: We’ve identified a last-minute issue where the unkindled ornaments are not appearing on Warlocks. Additionally, these ornament selections do not currently have text strings. We plan to fix this in a future update.
