Bungie rolls out Update 8.2.5.2 for the game ‘Destiny 2’. This update addresses additional bugs and visual glitches that affect gameplay, as well as making further adjustments to the Crucible. Updates like these are quite common in live-service games such as ‘Destiny 2′, due to their continuous release of new content, events, and seasons, which can sometimes lead to unforeseen issues or discrepancies from the developers’ original plans.
Currently, Destiny 2 is generally holding its ground, but the transition to episodic content post-Final Shape expansion hasn’t always been a seamless journey for Bungie and their player base. The last two episodes have encountered significant problems, such as a troublesome bug that hindered the acquisition of highly desired Destiny 2 weapons with specific traits. Fortunately, Bungie has responded swiftly to these problems, consistently issuing updates to rectify as many issues as possible.
In addition to the weekly reset for Destiny 2, developer Bungie also rolled out Update 8.2.5.2, addressing various lingering issues within the game. This update includes making Vesper’s Host available in weekly rotations, resolving a potential soft lock in the Court of Blades, and fixing exotics like Thorn and Deterministic Chaos. Furthermore, Bungie is reversing a modification made to the Hunter’s Astral Stasis Drake Helmet that caused an issue with the hood being displayed incorrectly. They plan to introduce a new helmet in a future update that will automatically lower hoods by default to rectify this problem.
In Update 8.2.5.2, modifications made to Destiny 2’s Crucible persist. Primarily, Lockdown received the most alterations: Players can now resuscitate their teammates, heavy ammo spawn intervals have been extended from 60 seconds to 120 seconds, and a zone must be neutralized to prevent a triple capture. On the competitive side of the Crucible, Bungie carried on refining the point system and the manner in which points are gained or lost. Additionally, a bug that impeded solo players from receiving loss protection when facing off against a duo fireteam has been rectified.
It’s fortunate when not every problem necessitates a solution. Occasionally, Bungie has transformed a glitch into an advantage, like the recent incident where they made class-specific weapons accessible to all Destiny 2 players by not fixing the bug but instead allowing it to persist. This enables players to acquire gear that was previously unavailable to them. Moreover, this bug sparked ideas within the development team for adding exclusive weapon animations for Titans and Warlocks in future updates to align with the Hunter’s Quickfang and Goldtusk swords.
