Destiny 2 Update Accidentally Nerfs Exotic Weapon

Highlights

  • Destiny 2‘s Graviton Lance pulse rifle had its rate of fire accidentally slowed down in update 8.0.5, much to the dismay of players.
  • Bungie confirmed the issue was unintentional, and a fix is in the works, but no timeline has been given yet.
  • The update also brought various fixes and improvements to the rest of the game, attempting to enhance exotic class armor farming in the Pale Heart.

As a dedicated Guardian with countless hours under my belt in the Destiny 2 universe, I must say the latest update has left me both elated and perplexed. On one hand, the improvements to Trials of Osiris weapons, Crucible tweaks, and BRAVE Arsenal focus are much appreciated. Yet, on the other, the unintentional nerf on my beloved Graviton Lance pulse rifle has left me a tad disheartened.

In the latest update 8.0.5, players of Destiny 2 have noticed an unexpected alteration in the performance of the Graviton Lance exotic pulse rifle. However, it seems this adjustment might not have been deliberate. As a dynamic live-service game, Destiny 2 regularly undergoes changes and enhancements, offering new content to players and addressing bugs and issues through regular updates.

In the past week, Bungie rolled out Update 8.0.5 for the game Destiny 2. This is one of the larger updates the game has had in a while. Some significant changes within this patch include making adept versions of Trials of Osiris weapons slightly more accessible, as a team of three will no longer lose on the Passage of Persistence after losing a match. The Crucible saw several adjustments, such as improved map weighting, a tougher penalty for quitters, and a method to focus a single BRAVE Arsenal weapon from Zavala for the Onslaught playlist activity. However, it appears that this update may have had an unexpected effect on one of Destiny 2’s most popular exotic items as well.

After the weekly update and reset in Destiny 2, players found that the speed at which the Graviton Lance pulse rifle fired had significantly decreased. This alteration was unintended, as Bungie’s official Help Twitter account acknowledged that the slower rate was due to a bug they have identified. They plan to rectify this issue in a future update. For more insights, Destiny 2’s Global Community Lead, Dylan “dmg04” Gafner, clarified that the change wasn’t deliberate, but there’s currently no estimated time for when the fix will be implemented.

Destiny 2 Fan Reactions to The Graviton Lance Nerf

the weapon may have been fixed as a result of the update. With its slower rate of fire, Graviton Lance and its Cosmology perk now function against all enemy types, including self-destructing ones like cursed thrall, screebs, and others. Many players commented that while one issue has been resolved, another has arisen in Destiny 2.

A key aspect of the 8.0.5 update involved enhancing the process for farming exotic class armor that debuted in The Final Shape expansion. Bungie implemented a weekly challenge into the Dual Destiny mission, meaning players could get an armor drop just by completing the mission once per week. Moreover, the frequency at which Destiny 2’s exotic class armor is obtained from chests within the Pale Heart was boosted. However, it seems that players are expressing concerns over this change due to the fact that the drop rates still appear to be quite low, particularly for those farming within the daily Overthrow location.
