Destiny 2 Update Brings Bug Fixes and Exotic Weapon Changes

On February 25, Bungie rolled out Destiny 2 update version 8.2.0.2. This update primarily focuses on resolving various in-game issues in modes such as Trials of Osiris and the Sundered Doctrine dungeon, while also making adjustments to Exotic armor. Additionally, it includes numerous other improvements. Simultaneously, this new Destiny 2 update coincided with the weekly reset, offering fresh content like a revamped Nightfall strike, seasonal missions, challenges, and more for players to enjoy.

The latest chapter for Destiny 2, titled “Heresy”, debuted on February 4, offering an abundance of fresh storylines, weapons, equipment, activities, and more within its ever-growing universe. Developer Bungie has consistently rolled out updates to address remaining bugs and make necessary tweaks to weaponry and gear balance. Occasionally, a glitch in Destiny 2 may be transformed into a useful feature, as long as it enhances the player’s experience without disrupting other critical aspects of the game.

On February 25th, Bungie shared patch notes for update 8.2.0.2 of Destiny 2, outlining the modifications made. To start, Bungie rectified an issue causing Sigil Stones to drop too frequently from defeated enemies within Episode: Heresy’s content. In Trials of Osiris, it is no longer possible to reset Lighthouse Passages from the Director if a loss was not documented, and Bungie tweaked the matchmaking for solo players who achieved Flawless to make it “Weekly Performance Based.” Additionally, Bungie fine-tuned Crucible’s Competitive rank point system to decrease the number of points that the skill modifier can add or remove, and they increased the impact of the quitter compensation aspect of the contribution scalar.

In Destiny 2’s Sundered Doctrine dungeon, several issues have been addressed to make loot acquisition smoother for players. For instance, chests hidden within the dungeon will no longer vanish instantly after being opened, giving all team members a fair chance to gather their rewards. Moreover, Bungie has rectified a problem where Finality’s Auger drop rates weren’t adjusting correctly with Triumph completion bonuses. To sweeten the deal, players who finish Sundered Doctrine will receive an enhanced initial drop rate. Lastly, Destiny 2 players now have the opportunity to complete the Zero Hour Exotic mission and acquire Outbreak Perfected, as Bungie has reactivated it.

Additionally, several exotic armor pieces from Destiny 2 have been revised. For instance, the Blight Ranger Exotic helmet for Hunters allows Bolt Charge to be triggered by cancelling Arc Staff now. Furthermore, the “Barri-nade” intrinsic perk on the Arbor Warden Exotic chest armor for Titans will now enjoy the benefits of Storm’s Keep. Lastly, a bug fix was implemented on the Warlock’s Speaker’s Sight Exotic helmet to diminish the healing turret’s potency in The Nether.

In addition to adjusting the Exotic armor, Bungie has made some bug fixes and changes to the Lodestar, Finality’s Auger, and Barrow-Dyad Exotic weapons. Specifically, the hipfire damage falloff range for the Lodestar was reduced, and they addressed an aim assist discrepancy between mouse/keyboard and controller users. The issue where the turret from Finality’s Auger would remain after switching to another Heavy weapon has been resolved. Lastly, going forward, the particles from the Barrow-Dyad Exotic SMG will correctly render when firing at Phalanx Shields.

Dungeons and Raids

Sundered Doctrine

Mission Complete should now fire shortly after defeating Kerrev and receiving loot unless players are actively trying to open the vault door.
Fixed an issue where the drop rate for Finality’s Auger was not properly scaling with boosts from Triumphs.
- In addition, all players that complete Sundered Doctrine will receive an additional boost to its initial drop rate.
Fixed an issue where opening one of the hidden chests could lock that character out of acquiring focused gear for that week.
Fixed an issue where hidden chests could despawn shortly after being opened.
Fixed an issue where Pyramid Switches could be activated by AOE damage sources.

Exotic Missions

Zero Hour

Fixed an issue preventing players from completing the activity which also affected rewards and pursuit progress.
- Zero Hour has been reenabled.

- Cancelling Arc Staff with Blight Ranger now triggers Bolt Charge.

- Arbor Warden’s “Barri-nade” now picks up the benefits of Storm’s Keep.

Speaker’s Sight
- Fixed an issue where the Speaker’s Sight healing turret was healing more than intended in The Nether.
Solipsism – Spirit of Filaments
- Fixed an issue that caused Spirit of the Filaments to not reward class ability energy properly.
Solipsism – Spirit of Necrotic
- Fixed an issue where Spirit of Necrotic was granting Devour.

Weapons

General

Fixed an issue where Redrix’s Estoc could not roll with random Stocks.
Fixed an issue where, after unlocking a pattern from Vault of Glass, the Deepsight mod socket would still appear visible.

Exotic Weapons

Lodestar
- Reduced the damage fall off range when fired from the hip.
- Fixed an unintended aim assist disparity between mouse/keyboard and controller when using Lodestar’s hip fire.
Finality’s Auger
- Fixed an issue where the turret could linger after swapping to another Heavy weapon.
Barrow-Dyad
- Fixed an issue causing Barrow Dyad’s particles to not render correctly when impacting Phalanx shields.
