Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for January 3

Summary

  • Xur is back with new exotic gear in Destiny 2, residing permanently in the Bazaar of The Tower for players to access easily.
  • For exotic weapons this weekend, Xur has Hawkmoon, Hard Light, The Colony, and Arbalest.
  • Players looking for exotic armor can find Severance Enclosure, Liar’s Handshake, and Crown of Tempests.

As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent in the depths of the Last City and beyond, I must say that this week’s offerings from Xur have certainly piqued my interest. The Arbalest, with its ability to shatter shields like glass, is a weapon I can appreciate after countless battles against those pesky Barrier Champions.

The Hard Light, on the other hand, brings back fond memories of my days as a Hunter, dashing and gunning my way through the Crucible. Its versatile damage type and rapid-fire capabilities are something every Guardian should experience at least once.

Now, let’s not forget about the Hawkmoon. A legendary Hand Cannon that grants stacks of Paracausal Charge with each final blow? Sign me up! I can just imagine the looks on the Vex’s faces as they get blasted by this beauty.

But what truly caught my eye is the set of Legendary Armor and Weapons Xur has on offer. The Seventh Seraph VY-7, a reliable Energy Submachine Gun, could be just what I need for those close-quarters encounters. And who doesn’t love a good sword fight? Falling Guillotine and Thin Precipice are sure to satisfy any Guardian’s desire for a bit of melee mayhem.

Lastly, I can’t help but chuckle at the thought of Xur peddling his wares from his makeshift Treasure Hoard. One might say he’s more of a treasure hoarder than a merchant, am I right?

So there you have it, Guardians. Another week, another opportunity to bolster our arsenals and perhaps learn a thing or two about the mysteries of the Last City. As always, may the light guide your path, and may RNGesus smile upon us all.

As a devoted Destiny 2 enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that Xur has made his latest appearance! He’s back with an array of exotic and legendary loot for us to explore, but only for a limited time. With the conclusion of The Dawning earlier this week in Destiny 2, we’re now in the final stretch before Episode Revenant resumes its acts.

As a gaming enthusiast immersed in the world of Destiny 2, I’m thrilled that Act 3 is just around the corner! Unlike past instances, Bungie won’t be offering us a sneak peek into the changes due to the upcoming holiday break. However, during the Act 2 livestream, they gave us a taste of what’s to come. One thing that caught my attention was the hint of a new exotic weapon mission to acquire the powerful Slayer’s Fang slug shotgun. I can hardly wait!

As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with years of experience under my belt, I can’t wait to share some exciting news with fellow Guardians! It seems that our favorite merchant, Xur, is back once again with a fresh batch of gear for us to snag over the weekend. So, let me guide you through his current whereabouts, updates on his exotic cipher quest, and give you the lowdown on all the exotic and legendary loot he’s brought along for January 3, 2025. Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this haul!

Where is Xur?

As a gamer, I no longer have to chase after Xur on weekends since he’s settled permanently in the Bazaar section of The Tower – a game-changer for my gaming routine!

Because the Marketplace is sandwiched between the two fast-travel spots, players have the flexibility to choose either one as their entry point. Make your way to the region shared by Ikora and Hawthorne, then locate the Ramen Shop positioned against the back wall. With the shop in front of you, the passageway where Xur is usually found lies to your right.

Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Each week, I find myself returning to Xur, the enigmatic vendor, who always has an array of intriguing quests, exotic items, and legendary gear up for grabs. These tasks are essential not only for acquiring a second fated engram, but also for obtaining legacy exotic equipment from the Tower’s kiosk. I can collect a fresh cipher by participating in strikes or triumphing in Crucible or Gambit matches. Extra points come my way when I play alongside my clanmates or tackle more demanding activities.

Xur’s Exotic Armor

Crown of Tempests – Warlock helmet

Exotic Perk:

  • – Arc ability or jolt final blows increase the recharge rate of your Arc abilities and extend the duration of Stormtrance.

Among the essential exotics for Stormtrance enthusiasts, this particular one boasts a notably high Recovery stat this week, making it more alluring than ever before.

Stat Values (67 Total):

  • Mobility +3
  • Resilience +2
  • Recovery +31
  • Discipline +14
  • Intellect +15
  • Strength +2

Liar’s Handshake – Hunter gauntlets

Exotic Perk:

  • – Using your Arc melee ability or being hit by a melee attack will allow you to follow up with an extremely powerful melee counterpunch that will heal you.

At a certain time, this item was renowned for its tremendous offensive capabilities, dealing massive damage. However, following some adjustments, it doesn’t hold the same prestige or essential status as before.

Stat Values (69 Total):

  • Mobility +32
  • Resilience +2
  • Recovery +2
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +20
  • Strength +6

Severance Enclosure – Titan chest armor

Exotic Perk:

  • – Powered melee final blows unleash a damaging explosion. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the radius and damage of the explosion.

Playing with it can be entertaining, but it’s not particularly striking or popular among the top-tier, exotic choices at present.

Stat Values (65 total):

  • Mobility +2
  • Resilience +16
  • Recovery +15
  • Discipline +6
  • Intellect +10
  • Strength +16

Xur Inventory Items

As a seasoned Destiny 2 gamer, I must say that Year 7 has brought some exciting changes to Xur’s inventory. Now, we have a proper rank progression system in place, offering rewards that make each interaction worthwhile. Moreover, the focus options added allow for a more tailored experience. It’s not just weapons and armor anymore; Xur now deals in other items too!

  • MIDA Multi-Tool Catalyst
  • The Xurfboard (Skimmer Board Vehicle)
  • Essentialism/Stoicism/Solipsism OR Exotic Cipher
  • Exotic Engram
  • Ascendant Alloy
  • Glimmer
  • Enhancement Core
  • Gambit Engram
  • Strange Gift (Random Item for 1 Strange Coin)

Xur’s Exotic Weapons

This weekend, the Year 7 update for Xur includes a new feature that allows him to provide several exotic weapons during a single encounter. Here are the exotic items Xur is offering now:

By rephrasing it, I aimed to maintain the original meaning and clarity while making it more conversational and easy-to-understand.

Hawkmoon – Hand Cannon

  • – Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes this bonus.

Arbalest – Linear Fusion Rifle

  • – Fires slugs that cause massive damage to combatant shields. Strong against Barrier Champions.
  • – Breaking an enemy’s shield with this weapon makes them more vulnerable to Kinetic damage for a brief period.

Hard Light – Auto Rifle

  • – Rounds fired from this weapon have reduced damage falloff, overpenetrate targets, and ricochet off hard surfaces. Projectile damage increases after bounce.
  • – Holding reload changes this weapon’s damage type, cycling between Solar, Arc, and Void. Grants different stats based on your selected damage type.

The Colony – Grenade Launcher

  • – This weapon’s grenades are insectoid robots that chase targets and explode close to them. Consumes tougher combatants to create additional robots.
  • – Insectoid robot grenades quickly repopulate the magazine from reserves while the Colony is unequipped.

Xur’s Destiny 2 Legendary Armor Set and Weapons

Xur’s Set of Legendary Armor and Weapons. All gear costs 50 Legendary Shards and 1000 Glimmer.
