Destiny 2’s Arc Warlocks Set to Dominate in Heresy: Here’s Why!

Summary

  • Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy introduces major changes for the game’s Trials of Osiris and buffed Arc subclasses.
  • Geomag Stabilizers returning with the toppling effect can make Arc Warlocks dominate with easier Super energy gain.
  • Sandbox changes and new weapons like The Queenbreaker set Arc Warlocks up to be OP in Destiny 2.

It seems that due to less than favorable feedback on Episode Revenant and possibly with a desire to revamp certain aspects of Destiny 2 before Frontiers expansion arrives later this year, developers Bungie have some exciting changes in store for Destiny 2 with the release of Episode Heresy. This update includes significant alterations to Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris and Flawless system, enhancements to Arc subclasses, and a new ability in Bolt Charge. When Heresy drops, Destiny 2 is set to undergo a transformation. Today’

s TWID post offers more insights into the modifications planned for Heresy, focusing on changes within the gameplay environment, and one class appears to have a clear advantage already.

In Destiny 2, there’s often significant metamorphosis, where certain classes or subclasses outshine others in both PvP and PvE scenarios. With constant shifts like these, it’s reasonable to expect that the recently enhanced Arc subclasses will be highly favored and potent in Heresy. This preference is primarily due to the multiple methods of accumulating Bolt Charge for massive Area of Effect (AoE) detonations. Out of the new Aspects, Storm’s Keep from the Titan appears to be exceptionally powerful because it allows the whole team to amass Bolt Charge stacks effortlessly. However, today’s TWID suggests that Warlock might take over as overpowered (OP).

Destiny 2 is Buffing Arc Warlocks’ Best Exotic in Episode Heresy

Initially performing well using one of the top Destiny 2 Supers in Chaos Reach, Arc Warlocks were often hindered by a lack of significant damage when not using their Super and limited means to survive or manage the battlefield. However, Bolt Charge now provides all Arc subclasses with the ability to inflict heavy damage on high-priority targets like Champions and bosses. As for the Stormcaller, upcoming sandbox adjustments could propel it to an even higher level. This is due to Bungie’s plan to significantly alter one of the best Arc Warlock Exotics in the game – Geomag Stabilizers.

Geomag Stabilizers were once highly sought after in the competitive multiplayer and cooperative play environments of Destiny 2 due to their unique ability to reduce Super energy while sprinting, a feature that proved beneficial in both PvP and PvE gameplay. Over time, however, the Exotic’s overpowering influence in PvP led to the removal of this toppling effect, which was a significant aspect of its identity. Now, with the introduction of Heresy, the toppling effect is being reintroduced, but it will now be activated by Bolt Charge, granting players free stacks simply by sprinting, starting at 6 stacks. Additionally, Ionic Traces will now provide players with 7% Super energy instead of 2%, significantly enhancing the power of this Exotic item.

How Destiny 2’s Buff to Geomag Stabilizers Can Make Stormcallers Meta

Incorporating the Fallen Sunstar and Arc 3.0, the Stormcaller’s gameplay strategy primarily involved repeatedly using abilities and recovering them with Ionic Traces. This approach remains feasible. However, Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy could significantly alter this pattern due to enhancements in Arc, the introduction of Bolt Charge, and new functionalities for Geomag Stabilizers. These stabilizers grant 7% Super energy upon obtaining an Ionic Trace, thereby speeding up the activation of Chaos Reach while also increasing add-clear and single-target damage by amplifying Bolt Charge stacks.

As a dedicated Arc Warlock player in Destiny 2, I’m excited about the new possibilities that flashbang grenades offer for crowd control. The ability to blind enemies en masse with these grenades could give my build the necessary survivability to experiment with the Ionic Sentry Aspect. This aspect not only has a built-in blind effect but also grants Bolt Charge stacks, making my attacks even more potent.

On top of this, upcoming sandbox changes are set to significantly enhance some of the best Arc weapons in Destiny 2, such as Wardcliff Coil now granting Bolt Charge stacks to the entire team or The Queenbreaker finally emerging as a viable boss DPS weapon. With all these improvements, it seems that the stage is set for Arc Warlocks to shine, potentially even reaching overpowered levels with Geomag Stabilizers.
