Destiny 2’s Choir of One Exotic Should be More Than Just Another Brick in The Wall

Destiny 2's Choir of One Exotic Should be More Than Just Another Brick in The Wall

As a seasoned Guardian who’s seen Destiny’s evolution from its humble beginnings to the powerhouse it is today, I can confidently say that Bungie has truly outdone themselves with the latest weapon trends in Destiny 2. The hybrid weapons are a game-changer, and I can’t help but feel like I’ve stumbled upon a cosmic buffet of firepower!

Since its launch, Destiny 2 has consistently added more and more potent weapon-crafting tools in each update, resulting in a vast array of lethal weapons for players to select. Notably, the weapon diversity within the Destiny series has significantly improved since the initial game, with many common legendary weapons in Destiny 2 surpassing even some top-tier Exotic weapons from the original Destiny, generally speaking.

Though it has made significant progress, the Destiny series continues to have potential for further expansion, as demonstrated in Destiny 2 through the frequent blending of weapon categories. For instance, the novel Choir Of One Exotic weapon showcases this trend by offering the high-end add-clearing capabilities typically associated with an Exotic auto rifle, yet it also delivers additional power using special ammunition. Remarkably, this is the first auto rifle to exhibit such characteristics, adding to a continually expanding list of weapons that challenge traditional weapon classifications in Destiny 2. As the game progresses, Destiny 2 could push this trend even further by introducing more hybrid weapons and unique weapon types.

Destiny 2’s New Buildcrafting Tools Are Breaking Boundaries

Destiny 2’s Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans Have More In Common Than Not

Since the introduction of Subclasses in version 3.0, the distinction between Hunter, Titan, and Warlock characters has become less clear. This is because each class now has access to abilities that were once unique to a specific character class. In Destiny 2’s latest expansion, the addition of Exotic Class Items offering unique Exotic armor perks for each class has further muddied these lines. While it seems like this trend of blending the three classes has reached its peak, there are still barriers to break when it comes to exotic and legendary weapons.

In Destiny 2, we’re witnessing an ongoing pattern with the latest weapons, where they often blend the superior aspects of two separate weapon categories into one. Take the Choir of One Exotic auto-rifle as an illustration – it’s the first auto-rifle in the Destiny series to utilize special ammo, and it could well be a game-changer for the game’s weapon inventory in the future.

The Future of Destiny 2 Is More Hybrid Weapons and Weapon Types

Although the fresh addition to Destiny 2, the Choir of One Exotic, is a pioneer in auto-rifles utilizing unique ammo types, it’s important to note that there have been many weapons preceding this trend, some of which have been part of the game for quite some time, such as the Legend of Acrius and Leviathan’s Breath. In terms of Exotic weapons alone, a number of them fall into this category by now. Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that there are also legendary weapon archetypes that share this characteristic, including special-ammo grenade launchers and sidearms.

Based on the trajectory of the game, weapons such as the recent addition to Destiny 2’s Episode: Echoes final act, the Choir Of One Exotic, appear to be pushing boundaries between buildcrafting tools, suggesting a continuation of this trend towards increasingly extreme combinations. In other words, this weapon is not the start but rather the tip of the iceberg, hinting at what lies ahead in Destiny 2’s future as more weapons with various ammo types enter the fray. It seems likely that we’ll eventually see every weapon type available in every weapon slot, in one form or another.
