Devil May Cry Fans Hit the Jackpot As Dante & Vergil Return in New Promo

It’s been just over a year since the first season of the Devil May Cry anime on Netflix, and now Season 2 is on its way! The last episode left Dante in prison, captured by DARKCOM, and Vergil working for the series’ main villain, Mundus. Because Season 1 was based on the events of Devil May Cry 3 (which actually takes place first in the game series’ timeline), the next season will likely cover the story of either Devil May Cry 1 or continue the conflict between Dante and Vergil that began in Devil May Cry 3.

To promote the upcoming second season, Netflix has revealed new posters featuring Dante and Vergil, each with their iconic weapons – Rebellion and Yamato. Considering Vergil’s important part in the storyline, he’s likely to share the leading role with Dante, at least for Season 2, if the anime stays true to the original games.

Devil May Cry Season 2 Teases Dante & Vergil’s Heartbreaking Backstory

New posters from Netflix for the upcoming season of Devil May Cry hint that Vergil will have a significant role, describing the twin brothers, Dante and Vergil, as “Two halves of a whole.” Dante’s poster reveals a redesigned look inspired by his outfit from the original Devil May Cry game, featuring his signature red color scheme. It also shows him wielding the sword Rebellion, alongside a glimpse of young Dante looking shocked, likely witnessing his mother Eva’s death.

I’m so hyped about the new Vergil poster! It really leans into that awesome blue look and his design from Devil May Cry 3 – it’s fantastic. Seeing Yamato and that glimpse of a younger, determined Vergil just gets me excited. With both young Dante and Vergil featured so prominently in these posters, I’m convinced Season 2 of Devil May Cry is going to dive deep into their history, and especially the heartbreaking story of their mother’s death. I can’t wait!

Devil May Cry Season 2 Premieres May 12, 2026

New posters for the Devil May Cry anime have announced the premiere date for Season 2: May 12, 2026. While the number of episodes hasn’t been confirmed, it will likely have at least eight episodes, the same as Season 1. The first season on Netflix was popular overall, but it sparked debate among fans because of significant changes to the story and characters, and the somewhat controversial character, White Rabbit.

Season 2 of Devil May Cry has the opportunity to address the issues with Season 1 and more closely follow the storylines of Devil May Cry 3 and Devil May Cry 1. Early trailers and promotional materials suggest the new season will be better than the first. All episodes of Devil May Cry Season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix starting May 12, 2026.
