Digimon Story: Time Stranger is Getting Major DLC in the Future

A big expansion is coming to Digimon Story: Time Stranger in 2027. Bandai Namco hasn’t announced a specific release date, but they’ve confirmed they’re working on new content, including more Digimon to collect and battle with in the game.

Originally released in October 2025, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a classic Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) where you collect Digimon and explore the secrets of a world that’s fallen apart. The game features many beloved Digimon, including Agumon, Patamon, and Gabumon. While it first came out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is now coming to Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2 on July 10th. The Switch 2 version will let you choose between different graphics settings for smoother gameplay or higher visual quality.

A Large-Scale Expansion for Digimon Story: Time Stranger Is in Development

As a big fan of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, I was so excited to hear more content is coming! During the Digimon Con 2026 livestream, the producer, Ryosuke Hara, announced they’re actively working on a huge expansion DLC. They’re aiming for a 2027 release, though they haven’t given a specific date yet. This news came right after the third episode pack of the Season Pass, “Anti-ParadoX,” launched on March 11th. This new episode is all about battling powerful Mega Digimon with the X-Antibody, like Gallantmon X and Omnimon X. The cool thing is, this episode’s story doesn’t tie into the main game, so it’s best to finish the main story first before tackling these tough bosses!

I was so excited to see the results of the 139th Digimon Referendum! Gammamon from Digimon Ghost Game took the number one spot, which was awesome. But what really surprised me was that Gekkomon and Chiropmon, both new Digimon from Digimon Beatbreak, actually made it into the top 20! It was also great to see Kazemon and Loweemon from Digimon Frontier get some love – Kazemon even landed in third place! The producer, Hara, mentioned that not every Digimon on the list is confirmed for the Time Stranger expansion in 2027, but they’re definitely going to consider these results when deciding who makes it in, which is really cool to hear.
