Digimon’s Free-to-Play TCG Pocket Competitor Has Been Revealed

Bandai Namco recently announced the upcoming release of Digimon Alysion, a digital card game that can be played without cost and will be available on smartphones running iOS or Android operating systems.

A few days past, there were hints that a rival TCG for Digimon was on the horizon, and thanks to Digimon Con (via Gematsu), we now have details about this game. The game is called Digimon Alysion, and it brings the card game experience right to your smartphone. Currently, not much information is available regarding the game; however, the trailer gives us a sneak peek of what to anticipate from this free-to-play title.

In the opening of the Digimon Alysion trailer, viewers get a taste of the fundamental aspects of a card game, such as gathering cards and engaging in battles. Yet, around the midpoint, an intriguing narrative component is hinted at. Furthermore, the trailer unveils fresh characters for the series, including Kanata Hondo, Futre, Valner Dragnogh, and a new Digimon called Gemmon.

As an ardent Digimon enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that we don’t have a fixed release date yet for Digimon Alysion, but that doesn’t dampen my excitement! What we do have, though, is a closed beta in the pipeline. Details about this beta will be unveiled soon. Furthermore, I can’t wait to see some fresh Digimon and characters making their debut in the game. Stay tuned for more updates!

In under six months since its launch, a new contender has emerged for Pokémon TCG Pocket, with Digimon, their long-time rival, stepping into the arena. The initial release of Pokémon TCG Pocket was phenomenal, amassing over 30 million downloads within just nine days and generating a whopping $120 million in its first seventeen days. It will be fascinating to observe how Digimon Alysion measures up when it goes live.
