The initial release of Destiny 2 featured the Red War campaign, which was the game’s central storyline at that time. Unfortunately, this campaign has been removed from the game (vaulted), so players can no longer experience it completely again. Following closely behind were expansions Curse of Osiris and Warmind.
In the annals of Destiny 2, Forsaken served as a pivotal moment, bringing about significant changes. The storyline was robust, but its true impact lies in the overhaul of several core game mechanics, like the implementation of randomized loot. Moreover, it set the stage for Destiny 2’s shift towards a seasonal model, with Season of the Outlaw being the first chapter of this new era.
Each expansion pack gradually advanced the overarching narrative of both the Light and Dark saga, while many seasonal stories were standalone or had minor impacts on the larger plot. All these storylines eventually led up to “The Final Shape“, where the Guardians, alongside their allies, ventured deep into the Traveler’s Pale Heart to halt the Witness.
Moving forward, we embark on a fresh narrative, and “The Edge of Fate” marks the beginning of this new journey. This upcoming saga is designed to be more accessible for players who missed out on the previous Light and Dark saga, allowing them to jump in without feeling left behind.
