During this week’s Digimon Con livestream, we got a lot of fresh details about “Digimon Story: Time Stranger”, including the fact that players will get to pick their starting partner Digimon. There has been a significant increase in the release of Digimon video games lately, and “Digimon Story: Time Stranger” was one of them showcased at February’s PlayStation State of Play event.
During its initial presentation, not many details were shared about Digimon Story: Time Stranger, apart from showcasing some iconic creatures from the adored Digimon anime series and hinting at the game’s multi-dimensional narrative. As for gameplay, Digimon Story: Time Stranger follows a turn-based RPG format similar to previous Digimon Story games, allowing players to gather and nurture a squad of digital monsters that can battle enemies and expose a looming danger to both the physical and digital realms.
This week at Digimon Con 2025, I got a sneak peek at the upcoming game, Digimon Story: Time Strangers. Producer Ryosuke Hara shared some exciting details about the new title during the livestream. One tidbit that really caught my attention was the confirmation of the three starter Digimon players can pick at the beginning of the game, all hailing from the original Digimon Adventure anime. The adorable flying Patamon, the aquatic Gomamon, and the bat-like DemiDevimon are the options available. Can’t wait to see more!
Digimon Story: Time Stranger Partner Digimon
- Patamon
- Gomamon
- DemiDevimon
It’s been speculated by many fans that these were the potential starting partners for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, given they appeared in early promotional materials. However, it’s important to note that these aren’t the only companions players can team up with in Digimon Story: Time Stranger. In fact, Hara has confirmed that a grand total of 450 Digimon will be featured in the game. A recent trailer for Digimon Story: Time Stranger showcased some of these Digimon, including popular choices like Angewomon, Gaogamon, and Renamon.

Apart from the available starter Digimon characters, this week’s Digimon Convention unveiled details about the game’s narrative and human personas. Players can opt for either Dan Yuki (male) or Kanan Yuki (female), both of whom are undercover agents in the ADAMAS organization, investigating a perplexing danger to humans and Digimon alike. The game’s ensemble also features Inori Misono and her companion Aegiomon. Unlike previous Digimon Story games, Time Stranger will frequently switch between the human metropolises of Shinjuku and Akihabara and the Digital World of Illiad. As of now, there is no confirmed release date for Digimon Story: Time Stranger beyond a 2025 launch window.
