Afterward, the man will present John with some literature about the cholera outbreak. John is free to either take it or leave it. The brochure provides crucial details on how one can prevent catching this illness.

5. Armadillo Standoff

A Chance To Be Heroic

As you step into Armadillo, you might find yourself in the midst of a tense showdown between the town’s sheriff and the notorious Del Lobo gang, who are trying to free an outlaw from jail. You have the option to intervene, and if you do, the grateful sheriff will acknowledge your bravery.

After making his resignation announcement, whatever is within the sheriff’s desk becomes up for grabs for John as a reward. However, if the player decides to take no action, the sheriff will meet an unfortunate end by being fatally shot.

4. Sick Man In Armadillo

A Warning To Get Out

By the time I arrive at Armadillo, it turns out that the place has fallen victim to the dreadful cholera outbreak. If I choose to grab a drink at the local tavern, I might find myself crossing paths with another fellow there.

He informs John that he’s unwell, and it seems everyone else in Armadillo shares the same fate, except for the proprietor of the general store. Then, he advises John against lingering excessively in Armadillo.

Unfortunately, there’s a charred body within, but it seems unlootable.

In the southwestern expanse of New Austin, not far from Hennigan’s Stead, I stumbled upon an intriguing character, often referred to as the “tree hermit.” Nestled high above the ground in a treehouse reminiscent of a cabin, this mysterious individual calls this unique abode home. If you get too near to his sanctuary, he’ll sternly warn me to keep my distance.

John has the ability to fire at the wooden flooring of the house, causing the man to plummet to his doom. But if the character positions a wagon beneath the treehouse beforehand, the man would miraculously survive the fall.
