In the game “Red Dead Redemption 2”, Saint Denis stands out as an expansive urban center, a chilling symbol of civilization that leaves even the toughest outlaws from the Van der Linde gang feeling uneasy. If Arthur Morgan decides to venture into Saint Denis, he may unwittingly find himself in numerous unexpected situations within “Red Dead Redemption 2”, which can be tricky to initiate and challenging to forget.
In the game “Red Dead Redemption 2”, many of the interactions you’ll come across are spontaneous. For those players who haven’t experienced every single one of these random events in “Red Dead Redemption 2”, we’ve compiled a list of all the ones that can be found within Saint Denis.
19. Alleyway Robbery
A Wealthy Man is Robbed at Knifepoint
In the area not far from the cathedral, tucked away in a secluded alley, an unfortunate incident unfolds under the cover of night. Witnesses might stumble upon a wealthy individual being held up at knifepoint. Arthur has the option to step in, resulting in the grateful man handing over some money, or he can choose to merely observe as the man gets robbed and potentially faces a tragic end.
18. Anders Helgerson
A Chelonian Preacher
Anders Helgerson can usually be spotted near the city’s public fountain and garden area, where he frequently shares his beliefs about the Chelonian faith. As an ardent supporter of this religious belief system, he often distributes pamphlets about the Chelonian religion for free to those interested in learning more.
17. Angelo Bronte’s Mobsters
Italian Mobsters Ambush the Van der Linde Gang
Following an unpleasant encounter with Angelo Bronte during his social gathering, Arthur Morgan could potentially face a hostile situation when trying to depart from Saint Denis. The aggressive Italian mob dislikes the Van der Linde gang intensely, and should they spot Arthur, he would be considered a target and meet his end instantly.
16. Blind and Fake Blind Beggars
A Series of Beggars Test Arthur’s Morals
In the town of Saint Denis, you’ll often encounter street beggars. Sometimes, these beggars offer Arthur Morgan useful information about store robberies or items they need, in return for some money. There are certain beggars who stand out – like a blind man feigning his condition, as evidenced by his reaction when pointed at with a gun. However, there’s another genuine blind beggar who remains oblivious if players decide to rob him.
15. Chamberpot Incidents
Human Waste from Above
Frequently, from the windows of buildings in Saint Denis, passersby might observe two individuals engaged in conversation. Then, unexpectedly, a woman may toss her chamber pot down at them from the balcony railing above. These unfortunate men would then be soaked with its contents, prompting them to angrily depart, which serves as an unpleasant reminder to avoid loitering near bathroom windows.
14. Dorothea Wicklow
A Suffragette Who Protests in Demand for Women’s Voting Rights
Near the central courtyard outside Saint Denis Tailor, you’ll encounter Dorothea Wicklow, a feminist advocate. She’s often seen gesturing and vocally expressing her desire for gender equality. Ms. Wicklow is pushing for women’s suffrage, a cause Arthur supports wholeheartedly, but he himself doesn’t appear to be particularly interested in voting.
13. French Couple’s Mugging
A Midnight Mugging Results in the Death of a Woman
It’s not wise to stroll around at night, even in a city like Saint Denis that appears law-abiding. Unfortunately, there are still people who disregard the law. A chilling example is a mugging attempt on a French couple where, if no help is given, their money will be taken and one of them could potentially lose their life.
12. Josiah Trelawny’s Family
Trelawny’s Secret Wife and Children
A chance event unfolds when you’re close by, where players can uncover the enigmatic family of Josiah Trelawny by visiting a building situated north of the Doctor’s Office and ascending the stairs. In this location, Arthur has an opportunity to overhear a conversation between Trelawny, his wife, and his two sons, and if he encounters Arthur in camp, he may address the subject directly.
11. Lemoyne Raider Vandals
Destruction of Property and Graffiti in the Night
Under cover of darkness, members of the Lemoyne Raiders occasionally construct explosives and hurl Molotov cocktails at shops in the city center as a means of causing chaos and expressing their discontent with the current state of affairs, which involves Lemoyne being under U.S. control. Although they are not inherently hostile, these individuals can be dangerous.
10. Norris Forsythe
A Racist Who Preaches Against Race-Mixing
Typically, Norris Forsythe can be found close to Saint Denis Cathedral and the Gunsmith, often engaged in soliloquies that border on delusional rants about eugenics and the supposed corruption of interracial mixing. He’s a racist individual who advocates for the preservation of the white race, and overall, he’s a rather uneducated person who could use a good reprimand from Arthur.
9. Police Brutality
A Police Officer Beats a Thief Who Has Surrendered
At times, players may witness a police officer rushing into an alleyway to apprehend a burglar. What follows is a disturbing incident of racial violence, as the officer not only arrests the thief but also brutally beats him unconscious. He then threatens onlookers, telling them to leave or they’ll face the same treatment if they don’t look away.
8. Public Hangings
Bounty Targets Get Hung in the City Square
In the city’s town square, players will have an opportunity to witness a public justice event overseen by the Police Commissioner, targeting criminals in Saint Denis. This event can be initiated in one of two ways: either by bringing Lindsey Wofford safely to the Saint Denis Police Station, or by saving a man outside of Saint Denis who had lost his arm due to the doctor’s actions.
7. Street Urchin Thieves
Street Rats Try to Rile Up Arthur
In various backstreets of Saint Denis, Arthur will be summoned by street kids who are mischievous vagabonds seeking to provoke adults with their impolite remarks. If Arthur reacts, they’ll dart into the alleyway, and pursuing them would lead Arthur to being robbed by them and their companions once inside.
6. The Pickpocket
A Pickpocket Bumps into Arthur When Entering Shops
If players venture into shops and taverns, there’s a chance they may encounter someone exiting the establishment. Should this happen, players might find themselves unknowingly targeted by a sneaky pickpocket. They can either chase after the culprit to reclaim their lost funds or choose to retaliate and rob them for additional wealth instead.
5. The Proposal in a Dark Alley
A Man’s Sinister Proposal Results in a Robbery
In the vicinity of the Jade Dragon Restaurant district, there’s a man who, under cover of night, signals Arthur to approach him for a conversation. This stranger shares with Arthur a scheme to amass money swiftly, but it requires Arthur to accompany him into a dimly lit alleyway to learn the details. However, by agreeing to this proposition, Arthur falls victim to an attack and ends up being robbed.
4. The Rats of Doyle’s Tavern
Help Doyle’s Tavern Pass a Health Inspection
In the less appealing parts of Saint Denis, you might not feel inclined to explore, but if you find yourself there, Doyle’s Tavern could be your affordable choice for a drink. Yet, it’s common that the owner of this tavern will appeal to Arthur for assistance in getting rid of a rat problem. In return, Arthur earns some money and ends up with bloodied hands while quietly disposing of the rats using a knife.
3. The Sex Worker of Doyle’s Tavern
A Flirtatious Woman Tries to Get Arthur Killed
After chatting with Angelo Bronte, it swiftly becomes clear that he has no fondness for cowboys or outlaws. This is why a woman working at Doyle’s Tavern is attempting to convince Arthur to join her in the alleyway, a move that would result in him being attacked by some of Bronte’s henchmen.
2. The Vampire
A Vampire Feeds on Victims Late at Night
In Saint Denis, this particular interaction isn’t chance-based; instead, players must actively initiate it. To do so, they should first examine five inscribed texts found within Arthur’s journal. Once studied, these texts will reveal a location (placed between the Gunsmith and General Store) where a vampire is feasting on its latest victim.
1. Timothy A. Donahue
A Man Who Sells a Get Rich Quick Book
Just steps away from Bastille Saloon, you might encounter an elegantly dressed person passionately proclaiming about their book titled ‘Get Rich Quick’ towards the sky. This generous soul claims that by investing $50 in his book, anyone can become rich, but upon reading it, it’s clear this is just a scam from a resident of Saint Denis.
