Back when I was introduced to The Sims 4 via the Businesses & Hobbies expansion pack, I found myself captivated by the unique challenge of ranking its twelve intricate lots. Inspired by the enchanting allure of Northern European cities such as Stockholm, Amsterdam, Oslo, and Copenhagen, Nordhaven masterfully combines industrial architectural charm with a deep-rooted history.
In Gammelvik and Iverstad neighborhoods, you can enjoy a mix of community, commerce, and culture while strolling or exploring. These areas are thoughtfully designed by local builders, ensuring each lot in Nordhaven offers a unique experience for both business endeavors and hobby pursuits. Find out where each lot ranks based on popularity, size, style, and adaptability.
12. Inked Inlet
A Little Lot With A Strange Rotation
- Lot Size: 20 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
Although Inklet Inlet boasts an excellent location in the heart of Iverstad, with its bustling markets and handy hobby meetup information board, its small size hinders its growth potential. The proximity of food vendors and social hotspots is certainly advantageous, but when it comes to construction, space can rapidly turn into a challenge.
Beyond that, this plot is slightly rotated, which might cause some inconvenience when arranging a layout, as it deviates from the orientation of nearby buildings and structures. Compared to others, this plot ranks at the bottom due to its irregular shape, awkward arrangement, and absence of an existing structure. However, there are numerous alternative plots available in the world of Nordhaven for building and play.
11. Comfortably Canalside
Charming Coastal Canals, Still Limited In Space
- Lot Size: 20 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
Regardless of its diminutive dimensions and apparent emptiness, the alluring appeal of Comfortably Canalside is indisputable, with its captivating canal vistas and historic environs. Situated in Nordhaven’s most ancient residential district, this plot presents a stunning backdrop for Sims 4 architects who cherish the area’s rich history and character. Adjacent shell houses offer valuable inspiration, facilitating the seamless integration of new constructions into the existing ambiance.
Although it’s small, measuring just 20 x 20, this property may not be suitable for extensive family homes or businesses as expansive plans might necessitate concessions. Despite boasting a picturesque location, it remains one of the least adaptable plots in Nordhaven.
10. Fisher’s Horizon
Scenic, Central, And Full Of Potential
- Lot Size: 30 x 20
- Lot Type: Residential
This Fisher’s Horizon property stands out slightly over other vacant plots due to its larger dimensions and stunning vistas of the canal and far-off mountains. Located near a former lively fish market, it retains an air of historical significance while providing a clean slate for future construction projects.
The vibrant shells surrounding it offer abundant architectural ideas, simplifying the process of creating a structure that harmonizes perfectly. Notably, it’s situated close to the city’s metro station (inspired by Stockholm’s tunnelbana) and a parking area. This proximity implies Fisher’s Horizon consistently attracts a good number of visitors, which might not be ideal for Sims searching for tranquility. Nevertheless, with its vacant space, it holds great potential as an excellent location to start a bustling small business, such as a lively fish market revival or a charming canal-side coffee shop.
9. Lighthouse Lookout
A Spacious Escape With Stunning Lighthouse Views
- Lot Size: 50 x 40
- Lot Type: Residential
Showcasing its expansive 50 x 40 square feet area, Lighthouse Lookout stands out as the most spacious vacant plot in Nordhaven, making it an ideal selection for builders with lofty aspirations. Its slightly hidden position provides a feeling of seclusion while maintaining stunning ocean vistas, an idyllic setting for Sims seeking a tranquil hideaway from the city’s relentless activity.
The lighthouse situated not far away serves as a captivating centerpiece for the scenery, yet its powerful light could be somewhat bothersome to those who sleep lightly. It’s unfortunate that the picturesque lighthouse island and the enclosed bay – ideal spots for tight-knit groups of people – are off-limits. However, despite being empty, the large size and picturesque qualities of the plot make it one of the most promising development sites in Nordhaven, surpassing smaller options in attractiveness.
8. New Harbor Park
A Forgotten Project Waiting For Revival
- Built by Laireen
- Lot Size: 50 x 40
- Lot Type: Small Business Venue
Although New Harbor Park appears to be fully constructed, labeling it “move-in ready” would not accurately reflect its condition. This seemingly finished construction site is filled with discarded materials, covered in weeds, and enclosed by warning tape, making it a definite fixer-upper. Despite its run-down appearance, this very state is what attracts creative builders — the plot was intended as a shell challenge, and people have enthusiastically accepted the task of turning it into something fresh.
Laireen meticulously designed the unfinished, cluttered look by incorporating various elements such as fresh graffiti, heaps of abandoned laundry, and scattered toys. This intentionally untidy style gives an authentic sense of neglect. Despite being impractical in its original form, it’s a perfect pick for Sims 4 players who enjoy tackling renovation projects.
7. Konst Modern
A Contemporary Art Museum In Need Of A Bit Of Soul
- Built by Eva Rotky
- Lot Size: 50 x 40
- Lot Type: Museum
As an art enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the introduction of the Konst Modern in Gammelvik! This modern museum isn’t just a gallery; it’s a hub for creativity, boasting community workstations and hobby whiteboards designed for classes in various arts like pottery, painting, and woodworking. This interactive element truly elevates the experience for both patrons and visitors alike. Plus, the Great View and Natural Light traits are thoughtful additions that create an ideal environment for Sims to hone their artistic skills.
Although the lot description reveals that the museum has undergone a recent renovation, the interior design lacks warmth and inspiration. Instead of fostering creativity, an excessive amount of gray concrete creates a dull atmosphere, with only occasional plants to break the monotony. Regrettably, despite its aim as an artistic space, this museum doesn’t quite live up to being genuinely inspiring, placing it seventh among similar institutions.
6. Old Torget House
A Compact Home With Historic Charm
- Built by Kellyhartx
- Lot Size: 20 x 15
- Lot Type: Residential
Nestled within one of Gammelvik’s most historic squares, this recently renovated dwelling presents an appealing option for Sims seeking to immerse themselves in the area’s deep-rooted past. Despite being situated on one of Nordhaven’s smallest plots, the Old Torget House benefits from Kellyhartx’s ingenious application of tall walls and platforms, giving the impression of greater size than its actual dimensions suggest.
The recent updates have given it an appealing, catalog-style from Ikea, making it ideal for immediate occupation but somewhat devoid of character. A touch of messiness, vibrant colors, and decorative elements would significantly enhance its lived-in feel. The peculiar extra room resembling a garage seems out of place considering there are no cars in the game. However, it could be transformed into a charming workshop or a mini business setup. This property suits a small family or an individual Sim who appreciates the urban loft ambiance in their living space.
5. The Old Foundry
An Industrial Gem With A Modern Touch
- Built by Eva Rotky
- Lot Size: 20 x 15
- Lot Type: Residential
In my gaming world, I’ve repurposed what was once a bustling foundry into a sleek, modern abode – The Old Foundry. Despite its modest 20 x 15 footprint, it cleverly accommodates three bedrooms, two baths, and spacious living areas without the slightest hint of claustrophobia.
In simpler terms, the muted color scheme of gray, brown, and black in this lot reflects its industrial history, but could benefit from a touch more color to make it more lively, excluding the bathrooms. The large windows let in plenty of natural light, especially in the master bedroom, though window coverings like curtains or blinds might be beneficial for privacy. The standout feature of this lot is undeniably the rooftop patio, perfect for hosting guests with its string lights, telescope, barbecue grill, and ideal setup for outdoor events.
4. The Rouge Note
A Sultry, Jazz-Infused Hideaway
- Built by Yohannabuilds
- Lot Size: 20 x 20
- Lot Type: Lounge
Initially, its exterior might not catch one’s attention immediately, but once you step inside, the charm of this place unfolds entirely within its confines. Shrouded in a mysterious red glow, The Rouge Note skillfully recreates the allure of a classic jazz lounge, providing Sims with an ideal haven to unwind following a tiresome day. The blend of raw brick and deep red highlights contributes significantly to its luxurious, intimate environment, setting it apart as a must-visit destination for nightlife enthusiasts.
Even though enlarging the bar might have been beneficial for more guests, choosing to incorporate “Business & Hobbies” build/buy mode items preserved a consistent theme throughout the establishment. The basement, boasting a flawlessly arranged stage and tables illuminated by lanterns, contributes significantly to this unified ambiance, making it an appealing venue for musicians, comedians, and those seeking a relaxing evening filled with smooth vibes.
3. Terra-Potta
A Charming Pottery Haven With A Cozy Touch
- Built by Yohannabuilds
- Lot Size: 30 x 20
- Lot Type: Small Business Residential
Situated in a tranquil, verdant expanse, the Terra-Potta area serves as a serene escape from the industrial landscape of Nordhaven. The studio workspace is bathed in abundant daylight, fostering an optimal setting for artistic expression and skill development. A thoughtfully designed entrance welcomes visitors, showcasing beautifully crafted ceramics on retail shelves that not only inspire students but also contribute financially to the business.
The two-toned exterior gives off a cozy, inviting vibe, ensuring that both customers and owners feel welcome. Attention is paid to minor details such as smocks, dividers, and carefully placed greenery, which breathe life into the workshop. The living quarters connected to it strike a superb balance between practicality and comfort.
2. Koffieboon
A Cozy Café With A Homey Touch
- Built by Laireen
- Lot Size: 20 x 20
- Lot Type: Small Business Residential
Koffieboon, a delightful small-scale business dwelling, showcases ingenious utilization of its snug 20 x 20 plot, effortlessly merging practicality and coziness. Unlike numerous EA constructions, each square inch is intelligently employed, avoiding any unused corners or untapped possibilities. The ground floor café is elegantly designed, radiating a scholarly, college-town ambiance that encourages Sims to drop by for a coffee and study sessions.
Vibrant splashes of color and unique elements give character to the entire house, with Gramma Hattie’s private room on the upper level being a delightful feature in itself. The addition of Laireen’s new fairy lights contributes even more to the warm atmosphere, transforming this café into a charming and bustling gathering place for the community.
1. Spilled Neon
An Industrial Gem For Dreamers And Artists
- Built by Kellyhartx
- Lot Size: 20 x 20
- Lot Type: Small Business Residential
Leading the pack in Nordhaven, the standout choice is the vibrant establishment called Spilled Neon. This unique blend of tattoo parlor and living space perfectly encapsulates the essence of creativity and drive. Though it’s built on a modest scale, its towering structure and open design conceal an abundance of potential for both commercial and residential purposes. The tattoo parlor could use a couple more stations and a burst of color to truly shine, but it presents ample opportunities for expansion. It’s the residential area that truly sets this lot apart.
The lofted bedroom harmoniously matches the urban industrial vibe of the city, while the rooftop deck equipped with a telescope provides a whimsical retreat for star-gazing enthusiasts and space aspirants. This whole area exudes a homely charm, with thoughtful details like the telescope corner on the upper level contributing to a snug ambiance that makes it an ideal dwelling for families such as the Sarpongs or any other customizable household in the game.
