Summary
- Doc Q must be skilled to keep Blackbeard’s crew going despite his illness.
- Marco’s Devil Fruit can heal physical injuries quickly but drains his stamina.
- Miyagi is a crucial doctor in the series, healing entire islands and giant elephants.
In the vast and captivating universe of ‘One Piece‘, fighting serves as a pastime for many characters, particularly pirate crews. They often engage in battles to demonstrate their prowess and superiority over rival groups like the Straw Hats, and other pirate gangs. However, this constant combat necessitates having a medical professional always on hand, ensuring that injuries can be promptly treated.
In the world of “One Piece,” doctors are indispensable due to the immense variety of viruses that abound, many being naturally occurring, while others are artificially created. This underscores the importance of having a skilled medical professional by your side if you’re to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling journey across the vast oceans. Here is a rough ranking of their expertise and abilities, should you need one for comparison.
8. Doc Q
Despite Brief Screentime, Doc Q Must Be A Skilled Doctor To Have Kept The Blackbeard Crew Going For Long
- First Appearance: Episode 146
Doctor Q is an unusual member of Blackbeard’s team, as he serves as a doctor while seemingly battling chronic illness throughout his life. However, his ability to tend to the wounds of Blackbeard’s rough and tumble crew over an extended period suggests that he is more than competent in the realm of healing. Intriguingly, Doc Q managed to nurse Jesus Burgess back to health after he was severely burned by Sabo’s Flame Flame Fruit during their encounter in Dressrosa, which underscores his readiness to handle a wide variety of injuries sustained by his crewmates in combat.
Regrettably, we haven’t seen much of Doc Q yet, as he often operates covertly alongside his unscrupulous associates. However, it’s evident from what has been revealed that this maladied individual, surprisingly, can be counted on to provide crucial aid when others find themselves in distress.
7. Marco
Marco’s Mythical Devil Fruit Can Wipe Away Physical Injuries Like They’re Nothing
- First Appearance: Episode 151
Marco’s Phoenix Devil Fruit grants him immense power for both attacking and healing. The “flames of resurrection” can quickly mend his bodily injuries, yet each use takes a toll on his energy. Notably, these flames can only heal physical wounds, not overall health, so Marco couldn’t aid Whitebeard when he was connected to life support.
Marco possesses a remarkable ability to mend injuries, regardless of their severity. The duration for recovery, though, may fluctuate significantly; at times, it might only take an hour, and other instances could require a few days. Despite some limitations, the efficiency of Marco’s healing powers is undeniably impressive, given that he can perform these feats without any necessary equipment on hand.
6. Miyagi
The Lovable Mink Becomes An Important Asset During The Zou And Wano Arcs
- First Appearance: Episode 756
In the Zou arc, we meet Miyagi, a Mink who quickly demonstrates his medical skills. With a little assistance from Chopper, he managed to cure an entire island of Minks that had been poisoned by Jack. Impressively, he was also able to heal the leg of Zunesha, a massive elephant, which is quite remarkable.
After reaching Onigashima, Miyagi demonstrated his value not just as a martial artist but also as a doctor by combating the Queen’s Ice Oni virus. It’s worth mentioning that he is the most admired Mink physician in the series. Despite his occasional appearances, he turned out to be an indispensable ally who consistently ensured the well-being of both his Mink comrades and pirate allies.
5. Crocus
Crocus Was Capable Of Keeping Roger Alive When He Was Suffering From A Terminal Disease
- First Appearance: Episode 62
To be frank, Crocus hasn’t had a significant role in the narrative so far, but his brief appearances have showcased his exceptional skills as a physician. Notably, it was Crocus who was entrusted with maintaining Roger’s health during their sea voyage, indicating his proficiency in medicine. As Rayleigh put it, Crocus was the only doctor at that time who was believed to be skilled enough to even slow down Roger’s mysterious illness, which underscores his reputation as a highly capable medical professional.
Without Crocus’ guidance and support, it’s safe to say Roger wouldn’t have navigated the treacherous Grand Line to reach Laugh Tale and conclude his legendary voyage, thereby potentially postponing or even preventing the start of the golden age of piracy. Although details about Crocus are scarce, the brief glimpses we’ve seen reveal him as an extraordinary doctor who came through in clutch moments for his captain.
4. Hogback
A Once-Renowned Doctor Who Began Using His Expertise For Evil Deeds
- First Appearance: Episode 1340
At the outset of Thriller Bark storyline, Chopper discloses that Hogback, a doctor living on the spooky ghost ship, was once an internationally acclaimed surgeon before mysteriously vanishing. However, it’s later discovered that Hogback allied with Gecko Moria and his pirate gang. While he doesn’t always employ his surgical abilities for good purposes, there’s no doubt that he remains exceptionally proficient at mending bodies.
Apart from crafting an entire horde of functioning zombies single-handedly, Hogback also experimented on some of his shipmates, like Absalom, to give them menacing and distinct appearances. If he had applied his abilities in a benevolent manner, he could have potentially saved many lives; however, he opted to apply his talents towards the evil Gecko Moria instead.
3. Tony Tony Chopper
The Lovable Straw Hat Member Is Always There To Protect His Crew From Being Badly Hurt
- First Appearance: Episode 81
Pursuing the ambition of becoming a doctor capable of curing all known diseases on Earth may seem like an extremely high target, but Tony Tony Chopper is undeterred and committed to achieving this goal regardless. Following his medical training under Dr. Kureha on Drum Island, Chopper has encountered and cured numerous rare illnesses during his travels with the Straw Hats. An illustration of his abilities can be seen when he developed his own virus as a countermeasure against the Ice Oni virus that was being disseminated by Queen in the early stages of the Wano arc.
Having a captain as impulsive and risk-taking as Luffy has been something of a mixed blessing for Chopper. On the positive side, Luffy’s frequent injuries and illnesses provide opportunities for Chopper to expand his medical expertise. However, this also means that Chopper is constantly needed and rarely gets a chance to relax. Despite not having Kureha’s extensive experience, given she’s over 140 years old, Chopper is one of the best doctors in the series, a fact that would make his mentor proud if she were alive today.
2. Kureha
Kureha Is Dedicated To Helping Get Her Patients Back On Their Feet As Soon As Possible
- First Appearance: Episode 81
As the thrilling climax of our Little Garden journey nears and our crew aims for Alabasta, a sudden turn of events finds Nami struck down by an unforeseen illness. In a race against time, we frantically search for any medical assistance that could save her. Our luck changes when we arrive at Drum Island and meet Kureha, a venerable “Witch” doctor with over a century of healing experience under her belt. With her expertise, she reveals that Nami’s condition would have been fatal within two more days without her intervention. In this pivotal moment, it becomes abundantly clear that Kureha has amassed an almost encyclopedic knowledge of curing diseases and injuries throughout her long career, as evidenced by her miraculous healing of Sanji’s fractured spine.
Yet, she advises Sanji to remain in bed after his attempt to aid his comrades, explaining that she’s diligent about ensuring her patients are fully recovered before exposing them to potential re-injury. Given her exceptional skills as a healer, it’s not surprising that Chopper became an accomplished doctor among the Straw Hats, having been trained by none other than the incredibly gifted and brilliant Kureha.
1. Trafalgar D. Law
Law Was Able To Cure A Seemingly Incurable Illness With His Devil Fruit Abilities
- First Appearance: Episode 392
Law, as the captain of his crew, functions not just as their commander but also as their healer. This dual role aligns well with the nature of his Devil Fruit, which seems tailor-made for a medical profession. The Ope Ope no Mi gives him the ability to manipulate and reorganize any objects or people within proximity. For instance, on Punk Hazard, this skill allowed him to remove organs from individuals without causing their deaths, effectively performing complex surgeries with minimal mess.
Amongst all his accomplishments as a doctor, Law’s most remarkable feat stands out – he managed to cure a supposedly incurable disease, the White Lead disease he had since childhood, with his newly gained knowledge of medicine known as Fruit. Despite his frequent engagements leading his crew or dealing with the Straw Hats’ escapades, Law remains a reliable healer for anyone injured or sick. If there’s someone who has the highest potential to discover a cure for an illness, it would undoubtedly be Law, given his skills and medical background.
