In Disney Dreamlight Valley, numerous distinct habitats teem with a multitude of creatures waiting to be nourished, bonded with, and eventually transformed into playable Companions. Ranging from cuddly Bunnies to menacing Snakes to enigmatic Baby Dragons, each biome in Disney Dreamlight Valley boasts its own specific type of creature, found in various hues.
In this Disney Dreamlight Valley tier list, we’ve ranked every creature from the base game and expansions “A Rift in Time” and “The Storybook Vale.” This ranking does not include companion animals that can be obtained through Star Paths, quests, or events, nor those exclusively available for purchase in the Premium Shop with Moonstones. Factors such as availability, feeding difficulty, and rarity of their preferred ‘Loved’ food items were taken into account when creating this list. However, remember that every creature in Disney Dreamlight Valley is incredibly cute and worth having as a companion, regardless of its position on the list – there are no truly ‘bad’ critters here.
S-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley
- Squirrels
- Sea Turtles
- Sunbirds
In Disney Dreamlight Valley’s basic version, you can encounter three unique creatures. You don’t need any additional expansions to access them. These critters are quite approachable when it comes to feeding – Squirrels hanging around the Plaza will come to you on their own for a snack, whereas Sea Turtles at Dazzle Beach and Sunbirds of the Sunlit Plateau may need some patience as they require a bit more waiting.
To add, their favorite foods are commonly available in the Valley and can be obtained without much effort or expense. For instance, Squirrels have a preference for Peanuts, readily available at Chez Remy, while Sea Turtles prefer Seaweed, which can be gathered in the open waters of Dazzle Beach. The Sunbirds, being among the easiest creatures to feed, delight in flowers that match their colors. These can effortlessly be provided using the Houseleeks and Bromeliads native to their biome, the Sunlit Plateau.
A-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley
- Foxes
- Rabbits
- Capybaras
- Baby Dragons
- Owls
In the higher category (A tier), there are two main groups of creatures: firstly, those from the base game that players must play a game of tag with before catching them, and secondly, those introduced in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s expansions that are easier to feed. Rabbits living in Peaceful Meadow and Foxes inhabiting Frosted Heights need to be chased three times before they can be caught, which isn’t overly difficult but can get a bit tedious. However, these creatures compensate for the extra effort required by having specific dietary preferences: Rabbits enjoy carrots, while Foxes prefer White Sturgeon, both of which are native to their respective habitats.
Just like Squirrels, both Capybaras and Owls have simple dietary needs – Cabbage for Capybaras and Barley for Owls. Players can easily feed them without engaging in any games. However, to include these creatures in your game, you’ll need to buy an expansion pack: “A Rift in Time” for the Capybaras, and “The Storybook Vale” for the owls.
Ultimately, the dragons in “The Storybook Vale” are easy to manage. They can be fed with gemstones you mine from the Mythopia and Everafter landscapes. Their popularity stems from their ease of feeding and fulfilling a long-standing player desire for them. Dragons have been one of the most sought-after creatures since the launch of Disney Dreamlight Valley.
B-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley
- Crocodiles
- Raccoons
- Pegasi
In this tier, some creatures are tricky to feed or demand relatively pricey meals. For instance, in Dreamlight Valley’s base game, crocodiles and raccoons engage in a game of “Red Light, Green Light” with you. To get near them, wait till their head goes down; then, cautiously move towards the creature, taking small steps until the “Approach” prompt appears. If your movement coincides with the critter raising its head, it’ll become agitated and scamper away. Mastering the timing can prove quite challenging, particularly when dealing with the crafty crocodiles that tend to stay close to the ground.
Luckily, Raccoons prefer food that’s easy to gather – Blueberries, found in their very own Forest of Valor. On the other hand, Crocodiles have a taste for Lobster, which they find in their native Glade of Trust, but it’s only obtained from the scarce golden bubbles. Fortunately, an enhancement to the game Disney Dreamlight Valley added the Miraculous Fishing Bait, allowing players to transform ordinary white bubbles into precious gold ones.
In the Storybook Vale expansion, you’ll find enchanting creatures reminiscent of Hercules’ companion, Pegasus, called Pegasi. These magical beings enjoy a game of Tag and can be quite elusive. They have a unique diet that consists of either high-end vegetable dishes or 4-star to 5-star meals derived from vegetables. Compared to other creatures needing rare foods, they are ranked slightly higher due to their acceptance of 4-star alternatives and the abundance of common ingredients used in vegetable-based dishes like soups and salads. Similarly, Pegasi, much like the Baby Dragons introduced in the same expansion, cater to the growing fan desire for more fantastical and mythical creatures.
C-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley
- Ravens
- Cobras
- Monkeys
In the original game, both the Ravens from the Forgotten Lands and the Monkeys residing in Eternity Isle’s Ancients’ Landing are hard to win over due to their stringent food preferences. Players will need an abundance of resources and top-quality ingredients to prepare 5-star meals for the Ravens (or desserts for the Monkeys) just to make friends with one of these creatures. Even their preferred foods, which slightly boost their friendship level, are high-rated meals (3- and 4-star). The Ravens, in particular, rank lower than other game critters because they have fewer color variations compared to the rest; most Ravens are dull-colored, often with some black in their patterns, apart from the White Raven.
Ultimately, Cobras, charming yet challenging reptiles, possess several aggravating traits. Initially, they are exclusive to expansions, specifically found in the Glittering Dunes biome from “A Rift in Time.” Secondly, they engage in an irritating version of “Red Light, Green Light,” where players must cautiously advance towards them. This game is especially challenging with Cobras because their heads are minuscule, making it tough to discern when they’re lowered. Lastly, they move rapidly and can traverse significant distances compared to other creatures, so players will have a considerable distance to cover if they fail the game and need to chase after them.
