Disney Heroes: Battle Mode will close in May 2026. The popular Disney game has been running for a long time and will celebrate its eighth anniversary just before it shuts down.
Developed by PerBlue Entertainment in Madison, Wisconsin, Disney Heroes: Battle Mode is a role-playing game where players create teams of famous Disney characters to battle villains and protect a city known only as “The City.” The game was first released in a limited form in February 2018, and then became available worldwide on Android and iOS devices in May 2018.
PerBlue Announces Shutdown Plans for Disney Heroes: Battle Mode
Just before its eighth anniversary, PerBlue announced that its mobile role-playing game, Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, will be shutting down. The latest update, version 7.11, included patch notes confirming the game’s closure. PerBlue called the decision difficult and expressed gratitude to players for their years of support. The company shared that the game held special meaning for many of them, connecting to cherished childhood memories that inspired its creation.
As a big fan of Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, I was really bummed to hear PerBlue is shutting it down. Here’s what’s happening: on April 30, 2026, they’re taking the game off both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and you won’t be able to buy anything else in the game. If you already have it downloaded, you’ll be able to keep playing until May 31, 2026, but that’s when the servers are going offline for good. They’re also closing down the official Discord server around the same time, since it was mostly for support and updates, and there won’t be much need for it once the game is gone. It’s sad news, but at least we’ll have a little while longer to enjoy it!
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode Sunsetting Roadmap
| Date | Changes |
|---|---|
| April 30, 2026 | Store delisting: the game will no longer be available to download. |
| In-app purchases discontinued: all IAPs will no longer be purchasable. | |
| May 31, 2026 | Server shutdown: the game will no longer be playable. |
The mobile role-playing game from PerBlue, Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, boasts a huge collection of Disney characters – over 250 as of April 2026! These characters come from popular franchises like Aladdin, The Incredibles, Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Ratatouille, Cars, Zootopia, The Little Mermaid, Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, DuckTales, and Pirates of the Caribbean, and many more. A recent update, version 7.11, added three new playable heroes – Benjamin Gates from National Treasure, Scuttle from The Little Mermaid, and Mowgli from The Jungle Book – which indicates the decision to end the game wasn’t made until fairly recently.

Sensor Tower data indicates that Disney Heroes: Battle Mode has been installed between 10 and 50 million times on Google Play since its launch in 2018. Even though the game is ending soon, it still had some users – approximately 10,000 Android installs and 7,000 iOS downloads in the month starting in early March 2026. The decision to end the game suggests that revenue had dropped significantly, which is common for these types of mobile games before they are discontinued.
