The popular story-driven game, Dispatch, will be available on Xbox Series X/S consoles this summer. Thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere, you’ll be able to play Dispatch on multiple devices, making this highly-anticipated 2025 title accessible to even more players.
Dispatch is a funny workplace comedy set in the world of superheroes, created by the team behind Telltale Games. In this game, you manage an emergency dispatch center and help former supervillains turn their lives around through the decisions you make. As crises unfold throughout Los Angeles, your choices in Dispatch have real consequences that impact each episode. The game’s engaging story and characters were recognized with awards, including the 2025 Steam Award for Outstanding Story-Rich Game, chosen by players.
Dispatch Flies Onto Xbox This Summer
Good news for Xbox fans – the game Dispatch, which wasn’t originally available on Xbox, is coming! Developer AdHoc Studio announced during a live stream on March 26th that Dispatch will launch on Xbox consoles in the summer of 2026. This release will also include access on Xbox Windows, through Xbox Cloud Gaming, and with Xbox Play Anywhere. Once launched, all episodes of Dispatch will be available. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, AdHoc Studio did confirm that the game will not be included with Xbox Game Pass at launch.
With the addition of Xbox Play Anywhere support, you’ll only need to buy Dispatch once to play it on your PC, Xbox consoles, and compatible handheld devices – and your progress and achievements will carry over. The Xbox version is being created with help from PlayEveryWare, the team that previously brought Dispatch to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and they’re also working on improvements to the game’s performance. Expect the Xbox port to be available before the game’s one-year anniversary this summer (between late June and mid-September).
A key to the success of the game Dispatch was its engaging story and the fact that it didn’t include any in-game purchases. In an interview from November 2025, creators Dennis Lenart and Chris Rebbert explained that Dispatch‘s straightforward story, free from microtransactions, helped it perform well on PC and PS5. The game’s episodic format also kept players returning for more. When it first launched, Dispatch released two new episodes each week, for a total of eight. Currently, all eight episodes are available to play on all platforms.
Dispatch On Xbox Has One Big Question To Answer
I’m really excited for Dispatch to come to Xbox, but I’m a little worried about censorship. When the game launched on Switch, some scenes and artwork were changed without anyone saying anything beforehand. Fans were pretty upset, and the developers eventually apologized, promising to work with Nintendo. Thankfully, the PC and PS5 versions have all the original content, so I’m hoping the Xbox version will too. It’s a bit of a question mark right now, and I’m eager to find out if they’ll keep everything intact this time around.
