I’m really excited about ARC Raiders, and it seems like they’re aiming to be a big player in the extraction shooter genre. It’s got me thinking about how progression will work – will we lose everything when the servers reset, or will there be a way to keep some of our progress? And honestly, I’m curious to see how it stacks up against games like Marauders and Escape From Tarkov. Will it be different enough to stand out?
Escape From Tarkov is often credited with creating the ‘extraction shooter’ genre, blending shooting, scavenging, and exploration in a unique way. A key part of what makes the game both loved and challenging is its system of progression and regular ‘wipes.’ These wipes essentially reset everyone’s progress, giving all players a fresh start and a renewed incentive to play.
ARC Raiders is another extraction shooter built on similar principles. We’ll take a look at how its ‘wipe’ system – where players lose progress – works, and whether it even includes one.
Does ARC Raiders Have A Progression Wipe?

ARC Raiders features a special optional progression system called “Expedition Projects.” It’s like a reset, but more complex, and players can choose whether or not to participate.
If you’re worried about losing your progress, you’ll be glad to know this game won’t force you to start over. The developers have always said there won’t be any mandatory wipes, and instead, they’re using a system that lets players choose to reset their progress if they want to.
We know you don’t want your progress to disappear when the game resets, and that’s why the creators of ARC Raiders, Embark Studios, have developed Expedition Projects – a system designed to preserve your efforts.
Once players reach level 20 in the full game, they can start working on “Projects,” with the first being the Expedition Project. Finishing this project unlocks the ability to reset their character’s progress. Players can continue to unlock character resets by completing additional projects.
So, how the Expedition Project works is it’s a cycle that lasts about 8 weeks. During those weeks, you’re working on it, putting in a good chunk of time to make progress. Then, during the final week – week 8 – you can actually finish it! If you’ve completed all the steps, you can commit to finalizing the Expedition during that last week. It’s good to know you have that full week to wrap things up if you’re close!
You can still make progress on the project even after the deadline, according to the explanation.
Choosing to reset your progress gives you special, permanent rewards and unlocks that you’ll always have access to.
Does ARC Raiders Beta Progression Carry To Full Game?
None of the progress you have made in ARC Raiders betas carries over into the game’s full release.
So, I’ve been playing since the Server Slam and all the betas, and honestly, I’ve put in a ton of hours – blasting robots, getting wrecked by other players, and just having a blast! But, get this – everything we’ve all accomplished up until now is getting reset. It’s a bit of a bummer, but I guess we’re starting fresh!
Starting October 30th, everything resets. However, any time you’ve already spent testing the beta version will still count in your favor.
