Does ARC Raiders Have Wipes? (Expedition Explained)

ARC Raiders is turning out to be a surprisingly deep game for fans of extraction shooters, and the Expeditions feature highlights this. While most extraction shooters reset your progress with a server wipe, ARC Raiders offers a unique system. Players can choose to send their Raider on an Expedition, essentially participating in a voluntary reset to gain better rewards in the next game cycle.

The ‘Legacy System’ lets you carry over most of your progress to new characters. This guide explains how to unlock it, what items you need to equip your Raider for Expeditions, and how the rewards system works as you continue playing with future characters.

How Does The Expedition Project Work in ARC Raiders?

Expeditions help players keep their progress even when the game regularly resets – a feature called the ARC Raiders Voluntary Wipe. You can find Expeditions in the ‘Projects’ tab within the Character Menu.

As a long-time player, I’m really excited about this new Expeditions feature! Once you hit level 20, you can start building a Caravan to leave the Rust Belt – basically, the main area we all play in around Speranza. But here’s the thing: it’s a one-way trip. If you send Raiders out on an Expedition, you’re saying goodbye to them for good – your character will be removed from the game. It’s a big commitment, but sounds like a cool way to really push the boundaries of the world!

After the reset, players starting a new Raider will be able to use a system that saves much of their previous progress. This means they’ll earn rewards and get helpful boosts as they play. Here’s a breakdown of what will be lost and what players will keep when they begin a new Expedition.

Progress Kept after Expedition Progress Reset after Wipe
Unlocked Maps Stash Upgrade Progress
Unlocked Workshop Stations (and Levels) Inventory Items
Codex Entries Blueprints
Raider Tokens Coins
Cred Player Level
Raider Decks Progress Skill Points
Active Leaderboards Raider Den
Trials Workshop
Cosmetics Completed or Pending Quests
Personal Event Progress
Bonus Skill Points Earned From Expeditions
Bonus Stash Slots Earned From Expeditions

Okay, so the upcoming Wipe is totally optional, but honestly, I’m planning on jumping in. They’re giving out a bunch of cool rewards if we do, and I definitely want to snag those. It’s a good way to freshen things up and get some extra goodies, so I’m in!

ARC Raiders Wipe Cycle & Expedition Rewards Explained

In ARC Raiders, the game world resets, or ‘wipes’, every 60 days. The next reset is scheduled for December 14, 2025. Players who complete the Expeditions Project before the final week leading up to the wipe will have 8 days to send their Raider on one last expedition, allowing them to save some of their progress.

If you’re trying to start an expedition, you’ll see a message letting you know if the window is open or closed. It will say ‘The Expedition Departure Window is now Open‘ when you can begin, and ‘The Expedition Departure Window is now Closed‘ when it’s not time yet.

Players who complete the Expedition Project and activate it before the deadline will get special rewards and temporary boosts to their abilities.

  • Increased Scrappy material gains
  • Increased XP Gain
  • Increased weapon repairs
  • Additional Stash Space (stacks each expedition)
  • Bonus Skill Points based on the value of the loot present in the Stash Before Departure.
  • Permanent Account Unlocks per completed Expedition
  • Special Cosmetics Unlocked per completed Expedition

Certain rewards, such as experience and Scrappy boosts, will be the most effective way to advance after each Wipe. These benefits can combine for even greater advantages every time a player starts a new Raider. The more often you complete challenges, the stronger these boosts will become, up to a certain limit.
