Does Code Vein 2 Have Multiplayer? Co-op & Multiplayer, Explained

Code Vein 2 offers a brand new story and adventure, but it also comes with its share of challenges. This 2026 sequel to the Soulslike game continues the Code Vein series, and we’ll see if it improves on the original with changes to how co-op and multiplayer work.

Code Vein, released in 2019, was designed with online multiplayer and cooperative play as key features. Like the popular Souls games, it let players ask for help from others and offer assistance in return. This system contributed to the first game’s success, but a sequel isn’t necessarily required to include it.

Does Code Vein 2 Have Multiplayer?

Unlike the first game, Code Vein 2 doesn’t let you play with others online to fight bosses as a team.

Many previews of Code Vein 2 featured two characters adventuring side-by-side. However, one of those characters is an AI companion designed to help you, and you won’t be able to replace them with another player or team up with a friend in combat.

This is a fairly drastic change compared to the first game.

Does Code Vein 2 Have Co-op?

Code Vein 2 is strictly a single-player experience; it doesn’t offer any co-op gameplay, either online or locally.

Bandai has made a surprising change with the new game. Unlike the first Code Vein, which actively supported cooperative play and multiplayer features, the sequel seems to be moving away from those options.

More information is available on the game’s Steam page, which currently lists Code Vein 2 as a single-player experience with no multiplayer features planned for release. Whether co-op or other multiplayer modes might be added later remains to be seen.

If players strongly request features like co-op or multiplayer, Bandai Namco could potentially add them, and might even let you directly control the AI companion instead of just giving it basic commands.

For more details about the game, you can find information on whether Code Vein 2 is available on Xbox Game Pass, a full list of PlayStation and Xbox trophies, and how to get early access.
