As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours battling it out across various platforms, I must say I’m quite pleased with Marvel Rivals’ crossplay feature, albeit limited to Casual Mode. It’s always refreshing to team up with friends regardless of their chosen console or PC. However, the platform-restriction in Competitive Mode can be a bit of a bummer.
Wondering if Marvel Rivals allows crossplay or cross-progression among PS5, Xbox, and PC platforms? Here’s the answer to your question.
Marvel Rivals is an action-packed multiplayer game where you get to command popular Marvel characters, spanning from the Avengers to the X-Men, in intense fights for supremacy. However, is it possible to engage in combat with rivals across various gaming platforms?
In other words, does your game progress transfer between systems when you change platforms, or is it specific to the initial choice of system you started on? Here’s how we explain this further in our guide.
Does Marvel Rivals have crossplay?
Yes, Marvel Rivals allows you to play with users on different platforms, but only in Casual Mode.
For example, when you’re playing on a PlayStation 5, the game server could have participants who are using Xbox Series X|S or PC. As a result, you can still join forces with your friends, despite the differences in gaming systems.
In Competitive Mode, the game can only be played against others who use the same platform as you.
In custom matches you arrange with friends, multi-platform compatibility is provided. However, do note that these quick games won’t affect your competitive standing.
Does Marvel Rivals have cross-progression?
As a dedicated gamer diving into the Marvel Rivals universe, I’ve got some news for you: Unfortunately, at this moment, cross-progression isn’t an option here. That means your gaming achievements are tied to the device or platform where you choose to play.
Should you opt for installing the game on another device, you’ll find yourself creating a brand-new user account from scratch.
In a chat with DotEsports, Marvel Rivals’ creative director, Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen, shared that they are working on cross-progression functionality.
In simpler terms, Chen stated that “Cross-progression includes many regulations that vary by platform. We’re currently working on finding solutions for these difficulties.
“Once the team has a solution and we’re ready to implement it, players will be the first to know.”
