Doki Doki Literature Club Has Suddenly Been Removed From Mobile Store

The psychological horror game Doki Doki Literature Club was unexpectedly taken down from the Google Play Store. The game’s creators and publisher were surprised by this decision, as Google apparently didn’t give them any prior warning.

I was so excited when Doki Doki Literature Club finally came to mobile in late 2025, after being out on PC since 2017! It’s a game that really caught everyone off guard – it looks like a cute dating sim, but it quickly turns into something much darker and more intense. It’s been a huge hit with streamers and players because of all the unexpected twists and mature themes. Sadly, it looks like those very themes are now why it’s been taken off the Google Play Store, which is a real bummer.

Doki Doki Literature Club Disappears from Google Play Store

A statement regarding the removal of DDLC from the Google Play Store: — Serenity Forge (@serenityforge.com) 2026-04-09T21:33:41.934Z

Gamers first noticed on April 8th that Doki Doki Literature Club was no longer available on the Google Play Store. The next day, the game’s creator, Dan Salvato, and publisher, Serenity Forge, explained that Google had removed the game because of its portrayal of sensitive topics, which violated their terms of service. The development team argues that these themes are important to players and have provided support and understanding for those dealing with mental health challenges.

You can still find Doki Doki Literature Club on most platforms, including iPhones. The developers are working on bringing it back to Android, but without using the Google Play Store. Good news for Android players: it sounds like they plan to release the full, uncensored game. It might take a little while, but they’re aiming to make it available on Android again.

As a fan, it’s really disappointing to see Doki Doki Literature Club pulled from the Google Play Store! I’ve seen a lot of other players saying the same thing. Luckily, some of us had already downloaded it, so we can still play, which is a relief. It’s just weird that Google suddenly decided it was a problem – the game’s always been known for its dark themes, so it’s strange it took three months for them to notice or care!
