In the game “Donkey Kong Bananza,” players will venture into the Hilltop Realm as their second destination. Unlike the Lagoon Region, this level does not contain any sub-regions, making the search for Banandium Gems fewer in number. Nevertheless, don’t be fooled; finding these gems remains just as difficult.
In this walkthrough, players discover the spots to collect the primary Banandium Gems hidden in Hilltop Layer within ‘Donkey Kong Bananza’. This tutorial excludes the locations of bananas found only during the game’s additional content (Banandium Gems numbered 3, 4, and 5).
SL200 Banana #1 – Bruised Peekabruiser
Players need to initially conquer Peekabruiser at SL102 before they can make their way to the Hilltop Layer by going downwards to claim the gem.
SL200 Banana #2 – Cave Dwelling Treasure
Near the Fractone Village barrier, you’ll find a cave. Inside this cave, players will encounter a mischievous, blue stone-like creature. This character will guide them further into the depths of the cave.
To reach the final part of the cave, players need to breach certain steel barriers. It’s advisable for them to transform into their Bananza shape to break through these obstacles effectively. Upon reaching the cave’s exit, players will uncover a precious Banandium Gem.
SL200 Banana #6 – Battle: Dig, Dig, Dig on Down
Near the Hilltop Layer SL200 Warp Gong, you’ll find a rocky crevice covered by a barricaded manhole. A pair of blue stone beings will be stationed before this opening. The players need to employ their vocal talents to break the seal and descend into the manhole.
Inside, players need to quickly dig down, locate, and eradicate the Crockoid foe hidden beneath within 30 seconds to complete the mission and obtain the Banandium Gem. It’s advisable for them to trigger Donkey Kong’s Bananza form as soon as possible, as this form allows for easy destruction of metallic hindrances along the route. The Crockoid is also significantly easier to handle when Donkey Kong is transformed.
SL200 Banana #7 – The Shifty Path Under the Village

In simpler terms, players need to hurl soil or ground at the luminous material beneath Fractone Village. This action creates a temporary block, so gamers should move quickly and scale the wall up to the platform. After scaling the wall, they must break it down and enter the concealed room where a banana is hidden.
SL200 Banana #8, #9, and #10 – A Shifty Path Forward, An Out-of-the-Way Room, and Make-Your-Own Platforms

To collect these bananas, participants need to complete the Shifty Platform Road obstacle course. The initial and final bananas are easily located by sticking to the course’s path, but the second one is tucked away in a secret room. To discover this hidden room, players should look to their left following the first platforming section. They will spot a platform rising and falling; by throwing some debris at it, they can make it solidify so they can jump onto it securely.
Afterward, they need to pick up one of the blocks they’d previously solidified the matter with, and hurl it at the prickly obstacles obstructing the door into the room. On the opposite side, they’ll discover a Banandium Gem.
SL200 Banana #11 and #12 – Hilltop Fragmentone Recovery and Hilltop Fragmentone Restoration
In the heart of Fractone Village lies an enigmatic subterranean dwelling, home to a peculiar stone figure that resembles a jigsaw piece almost perfectly. This figure, however, appears fragmented and incomplete. My fellow adventurers, if we manage to gather the three elusive fragments hidden deep within this cave, we’ll be rewarded with two precious Banandium Gems! Keep your eyes peeled as you venture into the depths, for the fragments are skillfully concealed among the shadows of the cavern. Happy hunting!
- In the hole at the back
- On top of the elevated rock on the right side of the cave
- Behind the arch
SL200 Banana #13 – Battle: Spike-Spout Scrap
As a gamer, I’ll be squaring off against three formidable Crockoids on a testing terrain to lay my hands on a Banandium Gem. Fortunately, at the beginning of this level, Donkey Kong grabs a pile of gold coins, enabling him to morph instantly!
SL200 Banana #14 – Hilltop Hide-and-Seek

To get this banana, players must find the four Hiddentones hiding near the concrete structure.
SL200 Banana #15 – Hilltop Smashin’ Stats
To get the Hilltop Smashin’ Stats Banandium Gems, players need to speak with Smashintone, the rock-like character near the banana construction site checkpoint. If a player has crushed at least 20,000 cubic meters of stone in the Hilltop Layer, Smashintone will reward them with these special gems.
Gamers can check their Smashin’ Stats in the Collections menu.
SL200 Banana #16 – Bloomed in the Hilltop Layer
Players must help the Bloomintone by destroying the banana-shaped rock that is blocking its light.
SL200 Banana #17, #18, and #19 – Thorny-Hill Finish Line, Thorny-Hill Buzzer Beater, and Thorny-Hill Hideaway

In order to obtain the initial banana, players need to successfully navigate through the Thorny Hill Speed Surf challenge track. To claim the second banana, they should finish the course in 40 seconds or fewer.
The final banana is concealed behind a wall near the end zone. Players have to collect some ground and press the jump key twice in order to scale it.
SL200 Banana #20 – Shifty Smash: Break the Canopy

Nestled within a hillock of mud lies a tunnel, leading players towards Peel Peak. Inside this tunnel, they’ll come across an activation switch. Upon activation, fragile material will manifest. Players must shatter every bit of it completely, all one hundred percent, while being mindful of spiky balls dropping from above. Fortunately, there are crates nearby filled with apples to help them recover if needed.
Or more concisely:
Players can find a tunnel inside the mud mound, leading to Peel Peak. Inside this tunnel, they’ll discover an activation switch which will produce breakable material. They must shatter all of it (100%) while avoiding falling spiky balls from above. Nearby crates contain healing apples for when needed.
SL200 Banana #21 – Battle: Three-Tiered Tussle
As players ascend the muddy hill en route to Peel Peak, they’ll come across a ropes course hidden nearby. To access it, they must first hum a tune close by and then strike downwards. In this test of skill, players must vanquish three Crockoids within the specified timeframe.
SL200 Banana #22 – Peeled from Peel Peak

In Donkey Kong Bananza, players need to advance by removing obstructed areas. To achieve this, they should ascend Peel Peak and eliminate the Void Kong mask found at the summit. Once DK removes the mask, a Banandium Gem that was previously hidden under voided terrain will become accessible for collection.
SL200 Banana #23 – The Skies Over Peel Peak
A banana is suspended over Peel Peak. To claim it, players need to seize some ground and hurl it at the cloud supporting the banana. Once thrown, the cloud will drop the banana, allowing players to collect it.
SL200 Banana #24 – Bananas All the Way Down

At the base of Peel Peak, you’ll find a sturdy door situated on the lowest banana in the middle row. By assuming the form of Kong Bananza, players can shatter this door open by delivering a powerful punch.
SL200 Banana #25 – Shifty Smash: The Rotating Ring
In one of Hilltop Layer’s numerous caves, you’ll discover Banana #25. To claim this banana and start the challenge, players should strike the radiant, levitating material. Keep in mind that it’s a timed event, so to successfully complete it before time runs out, use the Kong Bananza transformation. If your gold supply is low, you’ll spot a glimmering area near the rock figure. A burst of gold will ensue when struck.
In simpler terms, players need to eliminate all of the glossy substance completely before the timer runs out. The quickest method is by moving in a loop and breaking through it as it appears. Since there will be concrete involved, gamers should transform into Bananza characters to overcome this task successfully.
SL200 Banana #26, #27, and #28 – Against the Oncoming Tide, Against the Winding Tide, and Amidst the Hidden Tide
To obtain the Banandium Gems, players must conquer the Spiked-Tide Slope challenge track. The initial and final bananas are obtained naturally by finishing the course, but the second one demands a special effort: players need to descend the course’s side before reaching where the third banana is hidden, hurl a Boom Rock at both the ceiling and ground walls, then climb onto the ceiling to grab it from the other side.
SL200 Banana #29 – The Flying Banana

A banana is dangling from a rotating platform in the vicinity of the rock formation resembling a banana cluster. The gem can be tricky to grab, but it lowers itself closer to the ground when it nears the rocks. Consequently, players will have an opportunity to approach it and shatter it if they remember its sequence.
SL200 Banana #30 – Gold-Dipped Banana
Near the Fractone Village Warp Gong, players will spot numerous spike balls descending into a concreted pit. Beneath this pit lies a Banandium Gem. Players can transform DK into his Bananza form, shatter the concrete to get the gem, but the spike balls will fall on top of DK, causing damage. To avoid this, gamers should use the Hand Slap (R) action around the concrete perimeter before descending, creating a barrier that prevents the spike balls from following down as well.

SL200 Banana #32 – Cranky’s Hilltop Rant
In a spot nestled near a giant banana-shaped stone, where gamers once discovered Quiztone, resides the grumpy character, Cranky Kong. To make him descend and bestow the Banandium Gem upon players, they must snatch a rock, aim it at him, and hurl it his way. This action will cause the cloud to scatter, causing him to tumble down to the ground below.
SL200 Banana #33 – Shifty Smash: Downhill Run
Players must Turf Surf to the goal before the timer reaches zero in order to get Banana #33.
SL200 Banana #34 – Tunneling Through the Pit
Two platforms are located on the tunnel walls leading to the Undertone Canal, with one being situated nearer to the floor. The platform nearest the ground houses a sturdy door made of concrete, which players can break open if they’ve transformed into Kong Bananza. Behind this door lies Banana #24, where gamers will discover it.
SL200 Banana #35, #36, and #37 – Treasured Memories, Over the Valley, and Hijinxs in the Jungle
To obtain the three bananas, players need to complete the Nostalgia Country challenge course. Two of these bananas can be gathered as you play through the level, but the first one is subtly hidden. In the Nostalgia Country level, the initial banana is positioned above the starting point. To reach it, players should locate a piece of terrain and jump onto it by pressing the Jump button twice consecutively.
SL200 Banana #38 – Hilltop Chip Exchange
In order to acquire the final Banandium Gem located on Hilltop Layer, gamers should make their way to the Chip Exchange store situated within Fractone Village. There, they can buy the gem using 10 Chips and 100 units of gold.
