Nintendo has just released a new update for Donkey Kong Bananza on the Nintendo Switch 2. This update, version 3.2.0, resolves a number of problems in the popular 2025 platformer.
Released in July 2025 as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, Donkey Kong Bananza marked the first new installment in the Donkey Kong series in over ten years. The last game, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, came out in 2014. Despite the long wait, Donkey Kong Bananza was a huge success with critics, earning a score of 91 from top reviewers on OpenCritic. Positive buzz helped the game sell extremely well, and it continues to be a top-selling title on the Nintendo Switch 2, proving a triumphant return for the iconic character.
The latest update for Donkey Kong Bananza is now available, bringing the game to version 3.2.0. Nintendo’s support website lists the patch notes as simply addressing “several issues to improve the gameplay experience.” It’s a very brief update – and doesn’t specify exactly what problems have been fixed. This is the first update in over a month, and it’s positive to see Nintendo continuing to refine the game, even if more detail about the changes would have been helpful.
This new update for Donkey Kong Bananza is fairly similar to the previous one. Both updates included general notes about improving gameplay and added support for Polish language text. Beyond these small fixes, Nintendo continues to support the game with new events that aren’t always detailed in the official patch notes, giving players fresh reasons to return.
While the game’s patch notes are usually brief, Donkey Kong Bananza has received consistently good support since it came out last year, with frequent updates. Nintendo surprised everyone in September 2025 by releasing new DLC that took players to DK Island, a location fans who’ve been playing the series for a long time will recognize.
It’s currently unclear if Nintendo plans to release any more downloadable content for Donkey Kong Bananza. The recent DK Island and Emerald Rush expansion was released unexpectedly, so another surprise release isn’t out of the question. For now, any further content is just speculation, but Nintendo continuing to update the game is a positive sign. Beyond Donkey Kong Bananza, fans are hoping the next game in the series doesn’t take as long to release as the 11-year wait between the last two titles.
