As a dedicated gamer, I’m thrilled to announce that my favorite character, Solid Snake, is returning in the Super Smash Bros. Amiibo! Mark your calendars for February 13, as it’s the day we can expect a fresh restock. If you’re a fan like me, don’t wait around; some retailers are already taking pre-orders. Let’s not miss this opportunity to add this iconic figure to our gaming collections!
Back in 2008, the addition of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series to the Super Smash Bros. roster left fans astounded and thrilled. Cross-franchise collaborations like this were relatively uncommon in the video game industry at that time, particularly in games similar to Fortnite. This unexpected move was a major source of excitement for fans of both franchises. The joy was amplified when Solid Snake received his own Amiibo and later reappeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
As a passionate fan myself, I recall the excitement surrounding Amiibo figures back then. Unfortunately, due to the peak of Amiibo mania being over, some sought-after releases like Snake were missed by many enthusiasts. But fear not! If you’re among those who missed out on Snake, there’s a glimmer of hope for us all! Starting February 13, we can finally add the legendary Snake to our collections.
Excitingly, a listing for the Super Smash Bros. Snake Amiibo is already up on Best Buy’s website, with a 2019 re-release priced at $15.99 USD. To ensure you don’t miss out again, pre-ordering Snake now would be a smart move!
Will Nintendo Switch 2 Buyers Be Able to Use the Smash Bros. Amiibo?
With Nintendo publicly unveiling the successor to the Switch, it’s been revealed that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will support some older games, but with certain restrictions. As of now, Nintendo hasn’t definitively said whether Amiibo will work on the new console, causing a bit of unease among fans. However, given the presence of an NFC reader in the updated right Joy-Con controller, it’s speculated that the functionality of Amiibo may remain the same as on the current Switch.
As a devoted gamer, I can’t help but wonder if the popularity of Amiibos will soar again like they did during the height of Super Smash Bros. and Animal Crossing. It feels rather unlikely for Nintendo to abandon this technology entirely. After all, the Wii U, 3DS, and Switch have all made use of Amiibos. In fact, it seems Nintendo is keen on keeping their dedicated Switch fanbase engaged by allowing them to carry their games over to the yet-to-be-revealed Switch 2. With countless Nintendo games offering Amiibo compatibility and the timing of this re-release hinting at some level of continuity, it’s reasonable to assume that at the very least, the new system will be compatible with existing Amiibos and the games designed for them.
