Dota 2: How to Craft Neutral Items in Patch 7.38

After over half a year, the popular MOBA game Dota 2 has finally been updated with a major release. Labeled as Wandering Waters, Update 7.38 brought numerous fresh elements to the gameplay. Although modifications in maps and Roshan’s relocations are familiar territory for devoted Dota fans, this marks the debut of a crafting system within the game.

In the latest update, Dota 2 Patch 7.38, the mechanics of Neutral Items have undergone a significant transformation. Earlier, players would clear jungle camps at designated times to potentially obtain one of five Neutral Items per team, each with predefined stats and effects that couldn’t be altered. However, the revised system now offers players greater flexibility in managing their items.

How to Craft Neutral Items in Dota 2

In Patch 7.38, Neutral Items have been divided into two fundamental parts: Artifacts and Enchantments. Artifacts are the functional aspects of the item, they could be either active or passive. Conversely, Enchantments provide passive traits or stat boosts.

In Dota 2, players need to accumulate a unique resource called Madstones before they can create Neutral Items. You obtain these Madstones by defeating camps in the jungle. Each defeated camp awards 2 Madstones to the character who farmed it and 1 to a randomly chosen teammate. Once you’ve amassed an adequate amount of Madstones, you’ll have the chance to fabricate an Artifact and apply an Enchantment to it.

Players can choose one of four different Artifacts and Enchantments when crafting the Neutral Item.

As a gamer in this exciting game of Madstones, I’ve noticed there’s a cap on the number of Madstones I can hold at any given moment. When our epic adventure begins, it seems like I can’t snag any Madstone from clearing a jungle camp. Fast forward to the 5-minute mark, and we unlock the first tier of Neutral Items, allowing us to scoop up a maximum of 5 Madstones. This magical number is exactly what I need to craft my initial set of Artifact and Enchantment!

At the 15-minute point, the Madstone Cap rises to 15, and players must gather an extra 10 Madstones to make the next level of Neutral Items. The subsequent level becomes available at the 25-minute mark, boosting the Cap to 25. Then, by collecting another 10 Madstones at the 35-minute mark, you can craft another new tier of Neutral Item.

The highest level of Neutral Items becomes accessible at the 60-minute mark, needing an additional 10 Madstones. However, there’s a twist: After 70 minutes, the limit on collecting Madstones is lifted, allowing players to gather as many Madstones as they need for crafting new Neutral Items.

The cost of crafting increases by 10 for each new Neutral Item you craft after 70 minutes.

In Dota 2 Patch 7.38, the introduction of the Neutral Item crafting system undeniably alters the way players engage with the game, introducing an additional layer of strategy into an already intricate experience. This new feature enables you to customize your items in response to specific matchups, providing greater control and adaptability throughout the game.
